exists. Is it above, below, in the directions, or in the corners? After investigating all realms of Dharma in order, the Bodhisattva of the past should also rely on and depend on, first seeing the perfection of generosity. Likewise, I also instruct myself: Wise and virtuous, you too should perfect the perfection of generosity from now on. For example, if a water vase is turned upside down, the water in the vase will not remain in the vase but will spill on the ground, and it will not return to the vase again. Likewise, like this, without any attachment to wealth, fame, sons, wives, limbs, and minor parts, for the sake of the beggars, give everything they desire without reservation, and then sit under the Bodhi tree and attain Buddhahood. First, firmly establish yourself in the perfection of generosity. Therefore, it is said: I seek the Dharma to attain Buddhahood, wherever I seek it, above and below and in the ten directions, until the realm of Dharma. It was then that I saw it when searching, first the perfection of generosity, which is the path of the great beings of the past, to follow that other shore. Now you too must temporarily firmly hold it. If you want to attain Bodhi, you must practice the perfection of generosity. Just like a vase filled with water, whenever it is turned upside down, the water will pour out without reservation and will not remain in the vase. Likewise, when you see beggars, whether they are superior, inferior, or middling, you must give without reservation, just like an upside-down vase. Furthermore, one must observe that this Dharma of attaining Buddhahood is not just these things. Seeking further, seeing the second precept of morality, the perfection, the thought arose in my mind: Wise and virtuous, ascetic, you too should perfect the perfection of morality from now on. For example, there is also an animal called the yak, which does not care for its life but protects its own tail. Likewise, you too, from now on, must guard the precepts without regard for your life, and thus you will attain Buddhahood. Secondly, firmly establish yourself in the perfection of morality.

Therefore it is said: Not only this, but any Dharma that can attain Bodhi, should also be sought elsewhere. When can one attain the Dharma, only then can one see the seeking. The second is the Paramita of Morality, which the great beings of the past have approached and relied upon. For the time being, firmly grasp this second one. If you want to attain Bodhi, you should practice the Paramita of Morality. Just like the tail of a wild yak, no matter what grabs it, it will give up its life without hesitation. The tail has no likes or dislikes. Similarly, on this earth, one should perfectly uphold morality and constantly protect all precepts, just like protecting the tail of a wild yak. Furthermore, one should also observe other Dharmas that can lead to Buddhahood. Especially when seeking, upon seeing the third Paramita of Renunciation, the thought arises in the mind: Wise one, intelligent one, good one, ascetic, from now on, you should also perfect the Paramita of Renunciation. Just like a person who has been imprisoned in a prison for a long time, does not like it there. Furthermore, one does not want to stay in a mind that is extremely painful. Similarly, you should also regard all lifetimes as being imprisoned in a prison, and with the mind of wanting to be liberated from the extremely painful mind of all lifetimes, make renunciation manifest. By doing so, one can attain Buddhahood. One should firmly abide in the Paramita of Renunciation. Therefore it is said: Not only this, but any Dharma that can attain Bodhi, should also be sought elsewhere. When can one attain the Dharma, only then can one see the seeking. The third is the Paramita of Renunciation, which the great beings of the past have approached and relied upon. For the time being, firmly grasp this third one. If you want to attain Bodhi, you should practice the Paramita of Renunciation. Just like a person imprisoned in a prison, living there for a long time and suffering, does not like it there, but thinks of getting liberated as soon as possible. Similarly, you should regard all lifetimes as a prison.
