Having matured, having made a great departure, having completed great asceticism, having taken milk porridge under the Nyagrodha tree, he ate it on the bank of the Nairanjana River. Having gone to the heart of Bodhi, he will manifest perfect complete enlightenment under the Ashvattha tree. Therefore it was said: Dipankara, knowing the world, appeared in the world for the benefit of sentient beings. Sitting near my head, he spoke these words: This ascetic, please look, holding the hair of the supreme ascetic. This one, after countless kalpas, will become a Buddha in the world. He will be born in the city of Serkya Gawa, the Tathagata will surely appear. Having stayed in the place of asceticism, he will practice extremely difficult asceticism. Under the Ajapala tree, the Tathagata will reside. There he will take milk porridge, staying on the bank of the Nairanjana. On the bank of the Nairanjana, the Victorious One will enjoy milk porridge. For the sake of the supreme path, he will go to Bodhi. At the heart of unsurpassed Bodhi, then having circumambulated, under the Ashvattha tree, the one named Great Fame will become a Buddha. The mother of this one's birth, will become known as Maya. The father will be called Shuddhodana. This one will become known as Gautama. Exhausting defilements and free from desire, possessing a peaceful mind and equal mind. Born from the lap and Nearsurpassing, are the supreme of the Shravakas. The attendant named Ananda, will serve that Victorious One. Bhadra and Utpalavarna, are the supreme of the Bhikshunis. Without defilements and free from desire, possessing a peaceful mind and equal mind. His Bhagavan Bodhi tree, is called Ashvattha. Having heard that, the wise ascetic, I, having obtained the joy of mind because the matter I sought will be accomplished. Many people, having heard the words of Dipankara who possesses the ten powers, the wise ascetic became a sprout of the seed of the Buddha, joy and happiness arose. With such a mind, just as a person going to the other side of the river, if he cannot go to the other side from the straight bank, he goes to the other side from the lower part.

Thus, if I have not attained the fruit of the path in the teachings of Dipamkara, who possesses the ten powers, when will you become a Buddha in the future? At that time, I will be able to make you see the fruit of the path directly. After striving, Dipamkara, who possesses the ten powers, also praised the Bodhisattva, scattered eight handfuls of flowers, circumambulated him, and departed. Those four hundred thousand who had exhausted their defilements also offered incense and flowers to the Bodhisattva, circumambulated him, and departed. Gods and humans also made offerings in the same way, prostrated, and left. When everyone had left, the Bodhisattva arose from his sleeping place and sat in the lotus position on the pile of flowers in order to contemplate the perfection of wisdom. Thus, after the Bodhisattva sat down, the gods of the ten thousand world realms gave their approval, saying, "Excellent!" The noble Good Intelligence Ascetic, the previous Bodhisattvas, also sat in the lotus position, contemplating the perfection of wisdom, and in the past, while sitting, they saw the signs of suffering, and those signs have also arisen today. I know that you will undoubtedly become a Buddha. Whoever sees these signs will definitely become a Buddha. Therefore, you yourself must persevere in diligence, holding firm to steadfast effort, and made various praises to the Bodhisattvas. Therefore it is said: After hearing these words, the incomparable great sage, the gods and humans rejoiced. This seed and sprout of Buddhahood, makes a great sound, making it clearly bloom, and making obeisance with folded hands, together with the gods of the ten thousand worlds. If the fruit is not attained in this teaching, if this protector of the world, has transcended the future, then this will come sooner.
