Having completely subdued with the power of diligence, I, thinking of that, have said that whoever knows non-duality well knows the Buddha and the Dharma well. Why is that? Because by completely knowing non-duality, all dharmas are completely known, because that is the reason for meditating on the nature of the self of all dharmas. What is called the non-dual dharma is knowing the Buddha's dharma, because by completely knowing the non-dual dharma, the Buddha's dharma is completely known. By completely knowing the self, all three realms are completely known. Having completely subdued with the power of diligence, what is called completely knowing the self is the other shore of all dharmas. What is the other shore of all dharmas? That which does not see the other shore itself, does not cling to the other shore, and does not manifestly cling to the other shore, that is called having gone to the other shore by completely knowing, it is not as it is said. Having completely subdued with the power of diligence, thus it should be known that this is the bodhisattva's ground. For that in which there is not even the slightest thing to be known or realized, that is the perfection of wisdom of the bodhisattva, for that, coming or going is not visible. This is called the chapter of introduction, that is, the first. The second volume. Then, the venerable Ānanda said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, those who are proud and engage in signs will be afraid of this teaching. Then, the venerable Śāradvatīputra said to the venerable Ānanda: Venerable Ānanda, this is not the realm of the proud, it is not realization, so they will not be afraid of this. Why is that? Those who have fallen into the hands of evil friends have already become afraid of this, so this is not their realm and they cannot realize it. Venerable Ānanda, those who have entered in order to abandon pride and strive to abandon pride will be afraid of this. Why is that? Because by completely knowing pride, they seek non-pride and seek to abandon pride. Venerable Ānanda, those who do not see pride, do not truly see it, and do not cling to arrogance

Those who are not attached to appearances, they are not afraid of anything, they are not alarmed by anything, they will not be panic-stricken by anything. Venerable Ananda, this Dharma teaching is not entered into for the sake of those who are arrogant. Venerable Ananda, this is not the realm of the arrogant, there is no opportunity. Those who strive and endeavor to abandon arrogance, their efforts are not truly efforts. Venerable Ananda, what is called arrogance is an exaggeration, a superfluous word of fabrication. Those who indulge in arrogance, exaggerate, and fabricate, they do not act equally. Those who act equally will also have doubts about this Dharma. Venerable Ananda, those who do not fixate on equality, nor on inequality, neither boast of equality, nor of inequality, neither cling to equality, nor to inequality, they are not afraid of anything, not alarmed, and will not be panic-stricken. Venerable Ananda, this is not the realm of all ordinary people, they cannot understand it. Venerable Ananda, this is not something that all ordinary people can know and understand. Venerable Ananda, those of the Hearer Vehicle also cannot understand it. Those who practice the profound Dharma of the Solitary Buddha Vehicle also cannot understand it. Venerable Ananda, those of the Bodhisattva Vehicle who cling to signs, who are not fully embraced by a virtuous friend, and who have fallen into the hands of evil companions, they also cannot understand these unattached Dharmas, and this is not their realm. Venerable Ananda, except for those who have seen the truth in the Hearer Vehicle, and those in the Bodhisattva Vehicle who are guided by a virtuous friend, who have faith in the profound Dharma, who practice in accordance with these Dharmas, and who comprehend and practice these Dharmas. Venerable Ananda, Bodhisattvas who are free from signs, who practice in the absence of signs, who practice in the absence of variety, whose profound Dharma is utterly complete, those who do not fixate on mind or enlightenment, who do not differentiate any Dharma, and who do not truly see, they are the ones who can understand such a Dharma.
