Having set aside all those offerings, for an eon or more than an eon, they make offerings with all musical instruments, all songs, all dances, all music, all clapping sounds, all divine flowers, divine incense, divine fragrances, divine garlands, divine unguents, divine powders, divine garments, divine umbrellas, divine victory banners, divine bells, all divine flags, and around them strings of divine lamps and all kinds of divine offerings. They honor, respect, revere, worship, depict, and attend to it. O Blessed One, this son or daughter of good family will accumulate even more merit. Whoever has great faith in this Perfection of Wisdom, contemplates it, believes in it, generates the mind of enlightenment with a joyful heart, listens to it with superior intention, holds it, recites it, reads it, fully understands it, diligently recites it, teaches it, explains it in detail, upholds its words, chants it, and also widely and truthfully proclaims it to others, explains its meaning, contemplates it as a real object in the mind, and thoroughly examines it with wisdom as it is. In order that the lineage of the Buddha may not be interrupted, in order that the sacred Dharma may not disappear, they make the sacred Dharma abide for a long time, and in a way that is not separated from the proper path, they accomplish the benefit of the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas. Or, to a lesser extent, having put it into a book and holding it, they make a solemn vow, and with flowers, incense, fragrances, garlands, unguents, powders, garments, umbrellas, victory banners, bells, flags, and strings of lamps around it, and various kinds of offerings, they make offerings to that Perfection of Wisdom, honoring, respecting, revering, worshipping, depicting, and attending to it. O Blessed One, this son or daughter of good family will accumulate even more merit than that. Then the Blessed One spoke to Indra, the lord of the gods, saying: Kauśika (कौशिका, कौशिका, Kauśika), it is just so, it is just so. Kauśika (कौशिका, कौशिका, Kauśika), that son or daughter of good family is just so.

From this, much merit is generated. Kausika, whether it be a son or daughter of good family, from that basis generates immeasurable merit. Kausika, whether it be a son or daughter of good family, from that basis generates countless merits. Kausika, whether it be a son or daughter of good family, from that basis generates inconceivable merits. Kausika, whether it be a son or daughter of good family, from that basis generates incomparable merits. Kausika, whether it be a son or daughter of good family, from that basis generates limitless merits. Why is that? Kausika, the omniscience of the Tathagatas, Arhats, perfectly enlightened Buddhas, arises from the Perfection of Wisdom, and the offerings to the body of the Tathagata also arise from omniscience. Kausika, therefore, any son or daughter of good family who has great faith in this Perfection of Wisdom, who thinks about it, delights in it, and with a joyful mind generates the mind of enlightenment, and with heightened intention listens, holds, recites, reads, fully understands, diligently proclaims, tells, explains in detail, transmits, chants, and explains its meaning in detail, remembers it with the mind, and with wisdom that has been truly accomplished, here fully examines, and in order that the Buddha's teachings may not be interrupted, that the true Dharma may not be obscured, in order to make the true Dharma abide for a long time, and without deviating from the true path, benefits the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, if this Perfection of Wisdom is placed in a book, or carried or placed, and with flowers, incense, perfume, garlands, unguents, powders, clothes, umbrellas, banners, bells, streamers, and garlands of lamps around it, and various offerings are made, revered, respected, honored, offered, painted, and served, Kausika, accumulating merit in this way surpasses the merit accumulated by revering a stupa made of seven precious jewels, which contains the heart of the relics of the Tathagata.

The previous analogy does not even come close to one in a hundred, one in a thousand, one in a million, one in a hundred million, one in a billion, one in a trillion, one in an inconceivable number; it cannot even approach counting, cannot be spoken of, cannot be compared, cannot be shown by analogy, cannot be relied upon, cannot be a cause. At that time, forty thousand sons of gods, together with the lord of the gods, Indra, gathered in that assembly, and they said to the lord of the gods, Indra: Friend, hold the Prajnaparamita! Friend, take up the Prajnaparamita! Friend, cut off the Prajnaparamita! Friend, recite the Prajnaparamita! Friend, understand the Prajnaparamita! Friend, diligently practice the Prajnaparamita! Friend, proclaim the Prajnaparamita! Friend, explain in detail the Prajnaparamita! Friend, measure the Prajnaparamita with reasoning! Friend, chant the Prajnaparamita! Then, the Blessed One said to the lord of the gods, Indra: Kausika, you should hold the Prajnaparamita! Kausika, you should write the Prajnaparamita! Kausika, you should read the Prajnaparamita!
