Who will truly uphold this teaching of the Perfection of Wisdom as it is shown? Then, the Venerable Ananda said to those elders: Venerable ones, those who are non-returning Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas, or those who have perfect views, or those who are Arhats who have exhausted the defilements, they will truly uphold this teaching of the Perfection of Wisdom as it is shown. Then, the Venerable Subhuti said to those elders: Venerable ones, no one will truly uphold this Perfection of Wisdom as it is taught in this way. Why is that? Because in this way, nothing at all has been spoken, no Dharma has been fully manifested, and no Dharma has been established. Therefore, just as no Dharma has been spoken, no Dharma has been fully manifested, and no Dharma has been established, so too, no one will truly uphold this teaching of the Perfection of Wisdom as it is shown. Then, the Lord of the Gods, Indra, thought to himself: Since the Noble Subhuti has taught this Dharma discourse in this way, I too should manifest flowers for the purpose of making offerings and scatter them upon the Noble Subhuti. Then, the Lord of the Gods, Indra, at that time manifested flowers and scattered them upon the Venerable Subhuti. Then, the Venerable Subhuti, in order to rejoice in the Lord of the Gods, Indra, thought to himself: Furthermore, these flowers scattered by the Lord of the Gods, Indra, I have never seen before even in the abode of the Thirty-Three Gods. These flowers are emanations. These flowers scattered by the Lord of the Gods are born from trees, shrubs, and vines, or are they flowers born from the mind? Then, the Lord of the Gods, Indra, knowing with his mind the thoughts of the Venerable Subhuti, said to the Venerable Subhuti: Noble Subhuti, these flowers are unborn. Why is that? Flowers born from the mind

There are no flowers at all, they are not born from trees, shrubs, and vines. Then, the venerable Subhuti said to Indra, the lord of the gods: Kauśika, you say that these flowers are not born, these flowers are not born from the mind, nor are they born from trees, shrubs, and vines. Kauśika, whatever is not born is not a flower. Then, Indra, the lord of the gods, thought to himself: Alas! The venerable Subhuti has profound wisdom, and although it is easy to express in names and words, he does not contradict it. He clarifies it and shows it closely. Then, Indra, the lord of the gods, said to the venerable Subhuti: Holy Subhuti, it is so, it is so. Holy Subhuti, as you have closely shown, Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas should learn this. After saying this, the venerable Subhuti said to Indra, the lord of the gods: Kauśika, it is so, it is so. Thus, Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas should learn this. Kauśika, if Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas learn in this way, they will not learn the fruit of stream-enterer, they will not learn the fruit of once-returner, they will not learn the fruit of non-returner, they will not learn Arhatship, they will not learn Pratyekabuddhahood, they will not learn Buddhahood. Not learning these is learning Buddhahood and omniscience. Whoever learns Buddhahood and omniscience learns immeasurable and countless Buddha-dharmas. Whoever learns immeasurable and countless Buddha-dharmas does not learn for the sake of increasing or decreasing form. Likewise, it is not feeling, not perception, not formations, not consciousness, not learning for the sake of increasing or decreasing. Whoever does not learn for the sake of increasing or decreasing form, and whoever is not feeling, not perception, not formations

If one is not a non-learner for the sake of increasing or decreasing the various consciousnesses, then one is also not a non-learner for the sake of accepting or abandoning form. Likewise, not for feeling, not for perception, not for formations; that one is also not a non-learner for the sake of accepting or abandoning consciousness. One also does not learn for the sake of accepting certain dharmas, one does not learn for the sake of arising, one does not learn for the sake of ceasing.
