Chapter Two: Śakra. Chapter Two: Śakra. At that time, Śakra, the lord of the gods, together with forty thousand sons of the gods from the Thirty-Three Heavens, gathered and sat in that very assembly. The Four Great Kings, along with twenty thousand sons of the gods from the Four Great Kings' retinue, and Brahmā, the lord of the Sahā world, along with ten thousand sons of the gods from the Brahmā retinue, and five thousand sons of the Pure Abode gods also gathered in that very assembly. All the light that arose from the ripening of the gods' own karma was subdued by the power of the Buddha, the splendor of the Buddha, and the blessings of the Buddha. Then Śakra, the lord of the gods, said to the venerable Subhūti: "Venerable Subhūti, these many thousands of sons of the gods gathered here wish to hear from the venerable Subhūti the exposition, instruction, and subsequent instruction on the Prajñāpāramitā of the Bodhisattva-Mahāsattvas. How should a Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva abide in the Prajñāpāramitā? How should they train? How should they practice yoga?" The venerable Subhūti replied: "Kausika, therefore, it should be taught by the power of the Buddha, the splendor of the Buddha, and the blessings of the Buddha. Those sons of the gods who have not generated the mind for unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment should be made to generate it. Those who have entered into the certainty of reality have no share in generating the mind for unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Why is that? Because they have cut off the stream of samsara, they will no longer transmigrate, and therefore have no share in generating the mind for unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. However, if they also generate the mind for unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, one should also rejoice in them. I do not obstruct their roots of virtue, but should focus more on the most excellent of the excellent dharmas. That

Then, the Blessed One addressed the venerable Subhuti, saying: "Subhuti, well done, well done! That you generate joy in the Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas, Subhuti, you are also well done!" After speaking thus, the venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, we shall repay the kindness of the Blessed One, and we shall not do what is ungrateful. Why is that? Blessed One, just as in the presence of the Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Ones of the past, when the Blessed One was a Bodhisattva in the past, for the sake of us, when practicing the pure conduct for the sake of enlightenment, the Hearers were advised and accordingly shown the perfections. The Blessed One generated unsurpassed wisdom by what was practiced, likewise, Blessed One, we shall also accordingly take care of the Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas, and we shall accordingly surround them, and we shall truly take care of them, and we shall truly surround them. Why is that? Blessed One, in this, we also accordingly take care of the Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas, accordingly surround them, and truly take care of them, and truly surround them, and quickly realize the unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment. Then, the venerable Subhuti said to Indra, the lord of the gods: Kauśika, therefore, listen well and keep it in mind, and I shall explain to you how the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should abide in the Perfection of Wisdom. Kauśika, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should abide in the Perfection of Wisdom by abiding in emptiness. Kauśika, therefore, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should put on great armor, and should not abide in form, should not abide in feeling, should not abide in perception, should not abide in formations, should not abide in consciousness, should not abide in the eye, should not abide in form.
