One should not abide in saying, 'It will transcend the ground of ordinary beings.' One should not abide in saying, 'The Pratyekabuddha is the place of giving.' One should not abide in saying, 'The Pratyekabuddha, having transcended the ground of the Hearer and not having attained the ground of the Buddha, will pass into complete extinction.' One should not abide in saying, 'The Buddha is the place of giving.' The Buddha transcends the ground of ordinary beings, transcends the ground of the Hearer, and transcends the ground of the Pratyekabuddha, and performs the benefit of immeasurable and countless sentient beings. He causes immeasurable and countless sentient beings, hundreds of thousands of kotis of nayutas, to enter into complete extinction. He makes immeasurable and countless sentient beings certain in the Hearer, the Pratyekabuddha, and the perfectly complete Buddha. Abiding in the ground of the Buddha, he performs the deeds of the Buddha, and in the realm of Nirvana without remainder of aggregates, he enters into complete extinction by the complete extinction of the Buddha. One should not abide in this way. Then, the venerable Shariputra thought to himself: If the Buddha transcends the ground of ordinary beings, transcends the ground of the Hearer, and transcends the ground of the Pratyekabuddha, and performs the benefit of immeasurable and countless sentient beings, he causes immeasurable and countless sentient beings, hundreds of thousands of kotis of nayutas, to enter into complete extinction. If one should not abide in this way, then how should one abide in this, and how should one train? Then, by the power of the Buddha, the venerable Subhuti, knowing with his mind the thoughts of the venerable Shariputra's mind, said this to the venerable Shariputra: Venerable Shariputra, what do you think? Where does the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly complete Buddha, abide? The venerable Shariputra said: Venerable Subhuti, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly complete
