Moreover, he also manifests the form of the Tathagata. By manifesting various forms that are pleasing to the eye and delightful to the heart, he makes these beings rejoice. This is skillful teaching, and I think they are doing wonderful deeds. Then, those men, women, boys, and girls who are intelligent by nature, easy to understand, and endowed with contemplation and conduct, think to themselves: If there is no dharma to be discerned in this work of illusion, then these unreal dharmas that delude the eyes and mind make these beings rejoice, and these beings of childish nature, who are not real, are perceived as beings, and what is without substance is perceived as substance. This is a wonderful and amazing dharma! Subhuti, similarly, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he does not fixate on any dharma other than the realm of dharma, nor does he see any dharma other than the realm of dharma. Although he does not fixate on beings or the imputation of beings, he skillfully gives alms himself and leads others to properly give alms. Similarly, he also leads others to properly uphold morality, patience, diligence, and meditation, up to the cultivation of wisdom, and he also proclaims the virtues of wisdom. He also praises and rejoices in those who cultivate generosity, morality, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom. Subhuti, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who practices the Perfection of Wisdom in this way, through skillful means, benefits himself and benefits others, and he does not become weary. Just as it has been explained in the context of the perfections, so too should it be applied to all dharmas. Then, the Venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One: Venerable Blessed One, if all dharmas are empty of inherent existence, then in emptiness of inherent existence, there are no beings or dharmas that can be discerned.

So, in that case, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, abiding in the Perfection of Wisdom, strive for unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment for the sake of all sentient beings? After this question, the Blessed One said to the venerable Subhuti: Subhuti, it is so, it is as you have said. All dharmas are empty of inherent existence. In the emptiness of inherent existence, neither sentient beings nor dharmas are found. Subhuti, if all dharmas were not empty of inherent existence, then the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, abiding in the Perfection of Wisdom, would not teach sentient beings that all dharmas are empty of inherent existence. Subhuti, because all dharmas are empty of inherent existence, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, abiding in the emptiness of inherent existence, teaches sentient beings that all dharmas are empty of inherent existence. What is the emptiness of inherent existence of all dharmas? Subhuti, for example, form is empty of inherent existence. Similarly, feeling, perception, mental formations, and consciousness are empty of inherent existence. Therefore, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, abiding in the emptiness of inherent existence, thoroughly knows that these five aggregates are empty of inherent existence as they truly are. Having known this, he also teaches the Dharma to sentient beings in accordance with reality. Similarly, having known that the twelve sources and the eighteen elements are empty of inherent existence, he also teaches the Dharma to sentient beings in accordance with reality. Similarly, having known that the four dhyanas, the four immeasurables, and the four formless absorptions are empty of inherent existence, he also teaches the Dharma to sentient beings in accordance with reality. Similarly, having known that the four mindfulnesses, up to the eightfold noble path, and the three doors of liberation are empty of inherent existence, he also teaches the Dharma to sentient beings in accordance with reality. Similarly, having known the eight liberations and the nine successive abidings, as well as the ten powers of the Tathagata, etc.
