If a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva thinks to protect, rescue, and conceal those who practice the Perfection of Wisdom, it will only lead to failure and a share of weariness. Kauśika, what do you think? Can you protect, rescue, and conceal the realm of Dharma, the ultimate limit, Suchness, and the inconceivable realm? He said: Venerable Subhūti, no. He said: Kauśika, similarly, connect as before, it will only lead to failure and a share of weariness. Then the Lord of the Gods, Indra, said to the venerable Subhūti: Venerable Subhūti, what do you think? A Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, knows all dharmas in this way, like a dream, like a mirage, like an echo, like an illusion, like an apparition. Having known this, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva does not become proud of dreams, and does not become proud through dreams. When he had said this, the venerable Subhūti said to the Lord of the Gods, Indra: Kauśika, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he does not become proud of form, he does not become proud through form, he does not become proud of pride in form, and he does not become proud of attachment to form. Similarly, he does not become proud of feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness, he does not become proud through consciousness, he does not become proud of pride in consciousness, and he does not become proud of attachment to consciousness. Similarly, connect as before, until all-knowingness, he does not become proud, he does not become proud through all-knowingness, he does not become proud of pride in all-knowingness, and he does not become proud of attachment to all-knowingness. At that time, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, sees all dharmas as dreams.

For example, one fully understands that all phenomena are like illusions. Knowing this, one does not cling to dreams, does not become arrogant because of dreams, does not cling to arrogance about dreams, does not cling to dreams, and so on, up to not clinging to illusions, not becoming arrogant because of illusions, not clinging to arrogance about illusions, and not even clinging to illusions. Then, by the power of the Buddha, in this great trichiliocosm, the gods of the retinue of the Four Great Kings, the Thirty-three, the No-Conflict, the Joyful, the Delighting in Emanation, the gods who control the Emanations of Others, the retinues of Brahma, the ministers of Brahma, the assemblies of Brahma, the Great Brahmas, the gods of Clear Light, and all the gods between them up to the Pure Abodes, all scattered celestial flowers, celestial sandalwood powder, and incense powder upon the Bhagavan Shakyamuni, and then went to where the Bhagavan Shakyamuni was, bowed their heads at the feet of the Bhagavan, and sat down on one side. Then, the gods of the retinue of the Four Great Kings, and the gods between them up to the Pure Abodes, by the power of the Buddha, saw that in the eastern direction, a thousand Buddhas were teaching the Dharma in these very forms, with names such as the venerable Subhuti, who was completely expounding this very Perfection of Wisdom, and then Indra, the lord of the gods, was also completely expounding this very chapter of the Perfection of Wisdom. Similarly, in the southern direction, the western direction, the northern direction, the direction below, the direction above, and in all the worlds of the four intermediate directions, a thousand Buddhas were seen, and they were connected as before, and connected extensively in all directions. Then, the Bhagavan said to the venerable Subhuti: Subhuti, when the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Maitreya attains unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, and manifests perfect Buddhahood, he will know in this very place

will also teach this Perfection of Wisdom. All the Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Ones of the Good Aeon will also appear in this place and will teach this Perfection of Wisdom. The Hundred Thousand Verse Perfection of Wisdom, Chapter Nineteen. Then, the Venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One: "Venerable Blessed One, with what forms, what signs, and what characteristics will Maitreya, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, manifest the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment, and then teach this Perfection of Wisdom?" After he had spoken thus, the Blessed One said to the Venerable Subhuti: "Subhuti, in this case, Maitreya, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, having manifested the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment, will not teach the Dharma by saying, 'Form is permanent' or 'Form is impermanent.' He will not teach the Dharma by saying, 'Form is pleasure' or 'Form is suffering.' He will not teach the Dharma by saying, 'Form is self' or 'Form is non-self.' He will not teach the Dharma by saying, 'Form is empty' or 'Form is not empty.' He will not teach the Dharma by saying, 'Form has characteristics' or 'Form has no characteristics.' He will not teach the Dharma by saying, 'Form has aspirations' or 'Form has no aspirations.' He will not teach the Dharma by saying, 'Form is peaceful' or 'Form is not peaceful.' He will not teach the Dharma by saying, 'Form is secluded' or 'Form is not secluded.' He will not teach the Dharma by saying, 'Form is completely defiled' or 'Form is purified.'
