The Chapter on Proper Conduct. Not touching nirvana, not acting in accordance with characteristics. For example, a person trained in archery shoots an arrow into the sky, and other arrows are continuously attached to it, one after the other. The first arrow will not fall to the ground. If that person wishes, that arrow will fall to the ground. Similarly, practicing the supreme Prajnaparamita, practicing with wisdom, skillful means, power, and miraculous abilities, one will not attain that sacred emptiness until these roots of virtue are perfected. For example, a monk possessing supreme miraculous power, dwelling in the sky, simultaneously manifests various miracles, showing walking, standing, lying down, and sitting postures. He feels neither weary nor tired. Similarly, a wise Bodhisattva, skilled in emptiness, does not dwell in attaining the other shore of wisdom and miraculous abilities. He shows limitless actions to beings, and for countless eons, he feels neither weary nor tired. For example, someone stands on the edge of a cliff, holding two umbrellas in their hands, jumps into the sky, and leaps from the cliff's edge, not falling, but continuing to walk in that manner. Similarly, a wise Bodhisattva dwells in compassion, firmly holding the umbrellas of skillful means and wisdom, contemplating the emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness of all phenomena, not touching nirvana, yet seeing all phenomena. For example, someone desiring jewels goes to a jewel island, obtains jewels, and then returns home. There, the boatman lives happily alone, not causing discomfort to relatives and friends. Similarly, a Bodhisattva goes to the island of emptiness jewels, attains meditation, mastery, and power, enjoying the bliss of touching nirvana alone, not keeping the suffering of sentient beings in mind. For example, to understand the situation, a merchant goes to intermediate cities, towns, and villages. He neither dwells there, nor on the jewel island, nor in the home of knowledge, but is skilled in the path. Similarly, a Bodhisattva is clear and skilled in all the wisdom liberations of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers, not dwelling in them, nor dwelling in the wisdom of the Buddhas, nor dwelling in the unconditioned, but is skilled in the path.

knows the way. When one connects with beings through love, and practices samadhi of emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness, will that lead to the attainment of Nirvana? That which can be designated as compounded is without a place. For example, an illusory human body is not invisible, and can be named. Similarly, a Bodhisattva who practices the door of liberation cannot be named. If one asks about conduct and faculties, the Bodhisattva does not fully reveal the Dharma of emptiness and signlessness, therefore the Dharma of the irreversible ground is not explained; this should be known as unpredicted. Arhats and Pratyekabuddhas do not desire the wisdom and the three realms, even in dreams. Seeing the Buddhas, they also teach the Dharma to beings; this should be known as the prediction of irreversibility. In a dream, one sees beings dwelling in the three lower realms. At that moment, one makes the aspiration to cut off the stream of the lower realms. By the blessing of truth, the pile of fire is extinguished. This should be known as the prediction of irreversibility. In the human world, there are many elemental spirits and diseases. They are pacified by the blessing of truth, endowed with benefit and compassion. However, there is no arrogance, and no pride arises. This should be known as the prediction of irreversibility. If, due to various blessings of truth and abundant wealth, the thought arises, "I have been predicted," and arrogance arises. Or if a Bodhisattva is arrogant, thinking he has been predicted by others, and harbors pride, this should be known as small wisdom. From the basis of names, a demon approaches and says, "This is the name between you and your parents, and your seven generations of ancestors, and this is the name by which you will become a Buddha." How will one who possesses discipline and yoga appear? Your previous qualities were also like this. Hearing these words, the arrogant Bodhisattva is completely deluded by the demon, and should be known as small wisdom. A Bodhisattva who relies heavily on extremely secluded villages and cities, mountain valleys, secluded monasteries, and forests, and praises himself while disparaging others, is completely deluded by the demon, and should be known as small wisdom.
