While doing these things, I never do what should not be done. I always adhere to the path of the ten virtuous actions, and I lead others to adhere to the path of the ten virtuous actions. Similarly, I abide in the upavasatha days that possess the five precepts and the eight branches, and I lead others to abide in them. I enter the first dhyana, and I lead others to correctly enter the first dhyana. I enter the four dhyanas, and I lead others to correctly enter the four dhyanas. I always abide in loving-kindness, and I lead others to correctly cultivate loving-kindness. I cultivate equanimity, and I lead others to correctly cultivate equanimity. I enter the state of neither perception nor non-perception, and I lead others to correctly enter the state of neither perception nor non-perception. I cultivate the four mindfulnesses, and I lead others to cultivate the four mindfulnesses, taming, introducing, and establishing them. I cultivate the Noble Eightfold Path, and I lead others to cultivate the Noble Eightfold Path. I learn the ten powers of the Tathagata, and I lead others to learn the ten powers of the Tathagata, taming, introducing, and establishing them. I learn to perfect the eighty minor marks, and I lead others to perfect the eighty minor marks, taming, introducing, and establishing them. I generate the wisdom of the stream-enterer's fruit, but I do not abide in it, and I lead others to be established in the wisdom of the stream-enterer's fruit. I generate the wisdom of the state of Arhat, but I do not abide in it, and I lead others to the

Also, he establishes arhats in their own wisdom. I also do not generate my own Bodhi wisdom, nor do I abide in it. I also subdue, introduce, and settle other beings in their own Bodhi wisdom. I also generate the path of unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, and I also teach and instruct others on this path, and I subdue, introduce, and settle them. Subhuti, thus a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, practicing the Prajnaparamita, with skillful means, never does what should not be done. Then, the venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, if all dharmas are empty of inherent existence, then in the emptiness of inherent existence, one does not see sentient beings, nor does one see dharma and the path. Blessed One, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva abide in the knowledge of all aspects? After saying this, the Blessed One said to the venerable Subhuti: Subhuti, it is so, it is so. As you said, all dharmas are empty of inherent existence, and in the emptiness of inherent existence, one does not see sentient beings, nor does one see dharma and the path. Subhuti, if all dharmas were not empty of inherent existence, then the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, abiding in the emptiness of inherent existence, having manifested unsurpassed perfect enlightenment and become a Buddha, would not proclaim the dharma of the emptiness of inherent existence. Subhuti, form is empty of inherent existence, Subhuti, feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness are also empty of inherent existence. Even the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha are empty of inherent existence, and the eighty minor marks are also empty of inherent existence. Similarly, up to the knowledge of all aspects, and the interval of abandoning all habitual imprints, are also empty of inherent existence. Subhuti, when all dharmas are empty of inherent existence, therefore a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Prajnaparamita.

declares. The five aggregates are empty of inherent existence, this is the teaching. The twelve sources and the eighteen elements are empty of inherent existence, this is the teaching. The four dhyanas and the four immeasurables, as well as the four formless absorptions, and the four mindfulnesses, and so on, up to the eightfold noble path, are empty of inherent existence, this is the teaching. The three doors of liberation and the eight liberations, as well as the nine successive abidings, and the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, great love and great compassion, the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha, up to the eighty minor marks, are empty of inherent existence, this is the teaching. The fruit of stream-enterer and the fruit of once-returner, as well as the fruit of non-returner, the state of Arhat, self-awakening, omniscience, up to the abandonment of all habitual connections, are also taught to be empty of inherent existence. Subhuti, if the emptiness of inner emptiness were not empty of inherent existence, then the Bodhisattva Mahasattva would not teach that all dharmas are empty of inherent existence. Similarly, the emptiness of outer emptiness and the emptiness of inner and outer emptiness, and so on, up to the emptiness of the essence of non-things, if inherent existence were not empty, then the Bodhisattva Mahasattva would also not teach that all dharmas are empty of inherent existence. Therefore, if the emptiness of inherent existence could be destroyed, then the emptiness of inherent existence would also not be destroyed, nor would it be permanent, nor would it ultimately disappear. Why is that? Because it does not abide in a place, it does not abide in a direction, it does not come from anywhere, nor does it go anywhere. This is the abiding nature of the Dharma, and for it, any dharma of increase or decrease, existence or destruction, arising or ceasing, defilement or purification is not found. It
