That which is accomplished by what kind of samadhi that others do not generate afflictions, that is called without afflictions. What is knowing by aspiration? The Bodhisattva abides in meditation, thinking, "I shall know this," and mentally aspires to know the knowledge of the three times, or whatever he desires to know, arises from that samadhi, and that aspiration is accomplished, and also knows that object of knowledge, that is called knowing by aspiration. What are the six superknowledges? They are the superknowledge of miraculous power, the superknowledge of the divine eye, the superknowledge of the divine ear, the superknowledge of knowing the minds of others, the superknowledge of remembering past lives, and the superknowledge of the exhaustion of defilements, these are the six. What are the four purities? They are the purity of place, the purity of object, the purity of mind, and the purity of knowledge, these are the four. What are the ten powers? They are power over life, power over mind, power over resources, power over karma, power over birth, power over aspiration, power over wishes, power over miraculous powers, power over wisdom, and power over dharma, these are the ten. Subhuti, what are the ten powers of the Tathagata?

who truly knows all defilements, purifications, and arising; and who remembers many former abodes, from remembering one lifetime to remembering many former abodes, including their aspects and locations; and who, with the pure divine eye that transcends human vision, sees beings dying and being reborn, seeing those beings who engage in misconduct with their body, speech, and mind, who hold wrong views, and who slander the noble ones, being reborn after the dissolution of their body, due to those causes and conditions, in the bad destinies, the bad migrations, the places of downfall; and seeing those beings who engage in good conduct with their body, speech, and mind, who hold right views, and who do not slander the noble ones, being reborn after the dissolution of their body, due to those causes, in the good destinies, among the gods of the higher realms; therefore, with the pure divine eye that transcends human vision, seeing beings dying and being reborn, and the good and bad colors, the good and bad destinies, beings going according to their actions, truly knowing as it is; and the exhaustion of the outflows, the absence of outflows, the liberation of mind, and the liberation of wisdom, truly knowing as it is. These are called the ten powers of the Tathagata. Subhuti, what are the four fearlessnesses of the Tathagata? If I make a vow saying, "I am a perfectly complete Buddha," then, in the world of beings including gods, demons, Brahmas, and ascetics and Brahmins, there is no cause to fear that someone will argue with me in accordance with the Dharma, saying, "You have not perfectly awakened to these Dharmas." Because that cause is not truly seen, and because that cause is not truly seen, one obtains happiness, obtains fearlessness, and obtains freedom from dread, and one makes a vow to abide in the supreme state of the great bull. One truly proclaims the lion's roar in the midst of the assembly. The wheel of Brahma cannot be turned in accordance with the Dharma by any ascetic, Brahmin, god, demon, Brahma, or anyone in the world.
