It is when the mind is one-pointed with the aspect of peace and the aspect of signlessness. This is called the samadhi of signlessness. What is the samadhi of wishlessness? It is when the mind is one-pointed with the aspect of impermanence and the aspect of suffering. This is called the samadhi of wishlessness. Subhuti, what are the eight liberations? One who has form contemplates forms; this is the first liberation. One who has no perception of inner form contemplates external forms; this is the second liberation. One realizes and abides in the liberation of beauty with the body; this is the third liberation. When one has completely transcended all perceptions of form, the perceptions of resistance have ceased, one does not contemplate various perceptions, thinking "space is infinite," one cultivates and abides in the sphere of infinite space, and cultivates and abides up to the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception. When one has completely transcended the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception, one realizes and abides in the cessation of perception and feeling with the body. These are called the eight liberations. Subhuti, what are the nine successive abidings? Here, some people, from desires
