Also, he teaches the Dharma to abandon attachment. Then, he generates a mind of loving-kindness towards those Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas. Through those roots of virtue, they will be liberated from the realm of pretas, and having been liberated, they will never be separated from the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, until they completely pass into the realm of Nirvana without residue. I see these. Subhuti, thus the Bodhisattva Mahasattva abides in great compassion, that is, he abides closely for the benefit of all sentient beings for the sake of complete Nirvana. Subhuti, furthermore, when I look with the eye of the Buddha, the Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas teach the Dharma to the gods of the retinue of the Four Great Kings, and to the Thirty-three, and to the Strife-free, and to the Joyful, and to the Delighting in Emanation, and to the gods who wield power over others' emanations. Those sons of the gods, having heard the Dharma from those Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas, gradually attain complete Nirvana through the three vehicles, and are attaining complete Nirvana, and will attain complete Nirvana. Subhuti, Then, those sons of the gods who are immersed in the five desirable qualities, having set ablaze the palaces they particularly cherish, teach the Dharma, saying: Friends, all conditioned phenomena are impermanent. Who would trust in conditioned phenomena and abide? I see these. Subhuti, furthermore, when I look with the eye of the Buddha, in worlds as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, to those who are particularly attached to the views of the Brahmins, the Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas say: Friends, how do you generate the view of the emptiness of all phenomena? How do you generate the view of all phenomena as illusory and like a mirage? I see them liberating themselves from those views. Subhuti, thus the Bodhisattva Mahasattva abides in great compassion, teaching the Dharma to sentient beings. Subhuti, this is the wondrous and amazing Dharma of the Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas. Subhuti, I look with the eye of the Buddha.

In lands as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River in the eastern direction, Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas gather people with four objects of gathering. What are the four? They gather through generosity, kind speech, beneficial action, and acting in accordance with the Dharma. Subhuti, how do Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas gather sentient beings through generosity? Subhuti, here, Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas gather sentient beings through material generosity, Dharma generosity, and both types of generosity. Subhuti, how do Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas gather sentient beings through generosity? Subhuti, here, Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas give away gold, silver, jewels, pearls, vaidurya, conch shells, manas-shila, coral, food, drink, clothing, vehicles, bedding, cushions, incense, flower garlands, lamps, men, women, horses, cows, elephants, even their own flesh, and say this: 'Hey, people, come here! Take whatever you want, just like your own, with a good heart and without hesitation. Take it today!' Thus, they make a sound. Having given that generosity, they cause those sentient beings to take refuge in the Buddha, take refuge in the Dharma, take refuge in the Sangha. Some cause them to uphold the five precepts. Some cause them to properly uphold the eight precepts of the Uposatha. Some cause them to abide in the path of the ten virtuous actions. Some cause them to attain from the first dhyana up to the attainment of neither perception nor non-perception. Some cause them to properly uphold loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity. Some cause them to recollect the Buddha, recollect the Dharma, recollect the Sangha, recollect morality, recollect generosity, and recollect the deities. Some cause them to engage in individual observation of the body, the perception of impurity, and so forth. Some cause them to engage in purity. Some cause them to engage in the four mindfulnesses.
