With your own wisdom, you should understand all dharmas in every way. Subhuti, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva should thus train in this supreme Dharma, the Perfection of Wisdom. Having spoken thus, the Venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One: "O Blessed One, when we say 'supreme Dharma, supreme Dharma,' O Blessed One, what is the supreme Dharma? O Blessed One, by what measure is it called the supreme Dharma?" Having spoken thus, the Blessed One said to the Venerable Subhuti: "Subhuti, in this context, neither the Hearers, nor the Solitary Buddhas, nor the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas, nor the Tathagatas, the Arhats, the Perfectly Awakened Ones, are with attachment, nor are they without attachment. They are neither with hatred, nor without hatred. They are neither with delusion, nor without delusion. They are neither with the view of the perishable aggregate, nor without the view of the perishable aggregate. They are neither with doubt, nor without doubt. They are neither with the adherence to moral discipline and asceticism, nor without the adherence to moral discipline and asceticism. They are neither with desire-attachment, nor without desire-attachment. They are neither with malice, nor without malice. They are neither with form-attachment, nor without form-attachment. They are neither with ignorance, nor without ignorance. They are neither with agitation, nor without agitation. They are neither with the first dhyana, nor without the first dhyana. They are neither with the interval of the four dhyanas, nor without the interval of the four dhyanas. They are neither with loving-kindness, nor without loving-kindness. They are neither with compassion, nor without compassion. They are neither with joy, nor without joy. They are neither with equanimity, nor without equanimity. They are neither with the realm of neither perception nor non-perception, nor without the realm of neither perception nor non-perception. They are neither with the four mindfulnesses, nor with great compassion. They are neither with the conditioned realm, nor with the unconditioned realm.

It is neither possessing nor not possessing. Why is that? Because all those dharmas are not corporeal, cannot be indicated, and are without obstruction, thus being of one characteristic, which is no characteristic. Those that are not corporeal are neither possessing nor not possessing together with what is not corporeal. Those that cannot be indicated are neither possessing nor not possessing together with what cannot be indicated. Those that are without obstruction are neither possessing nor not possessing together with what is without obstruction. Those that are of one characteristic are neither possessing nor not possessing together with what is of one characteristic. Those that are without characteristic are neither possessing nor not possessing together with what is without characteristic. Subhuti, this perfection of the bodhisattva-mahasattvas, which the bodhisattva-mahasattvas should train in, is of one characteristic, which is no characteristic, is without form, cannot be indicated, and is without obstruction. If one trains in that, one does not perceive any characteristic by any dharma. When this was said, the venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, I should not train in the characteristic of form, nor should I train in the characteristic of feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness. I should not train in the characteristic of the eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind. I should not train in the characteristic of form, sound, smell, taste, touch, and dharmas. I should not train in the characteristic of the earth element, water element, fire element, wind element, space element, and consciousness element. I should not train in the characteristic of the perfection of generosity. I should not train in the characteristic of the perfection of ethics, the perfection of patience, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of meditation, and the perfection of wisdom. I should not train in the characteristic of inner emptiness. Likewise, I should not train in the characteristic up to the emptiness of the nature of non-things.

I do not. I do not study the nature of the first dhyana. I do not study the nature up to the fourth dhyana. I do not study the nature of loving-kindness. I do not study the nature of compassion, joy, and equanimity. I do not study the nature of the sphere of infinite space. I do not study the nature up to the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception. I do not study the nature of the four mindfulnesses. I do not study the nature up to the eightfold noble path. I do not study the nature of emptiness samadhi, signlessness samadhi, and wishlessness samadhi. I do not study the nature of the samadhi of the doors of liberation. I do not study the nature of the ten powers of the Tathagata. I do not study the nature of the four fearlessnesses. I do not study the nature of the four analytical knowledges. I do not study the nature of the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha. I do not study the nature of great compassion. I do not study the nature of the noble truth of suffering. I do not study the nature of the noble truths of origin, cessation, and path. I do not study the nature of dependent origination, arising in accordance with and not in accordance with. I do not study the nature of the conditioned realm. Do I not study the nature of the unconditioned realm? Blessed One, if the nature of these dharmas is not studied, and the nature of fabrication is not studied, then, Blessed One, how can a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, without studying the nature of dharmas and the nature of fabrication, transcend the level of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas? Without transcending the level of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, how can one enter the flawless state of a Bodhisattva? Without entering the flawless state of a Bodhisattva, how can one attain omniscience? Without attaining omniscience, how can one turn the wheel of Dharma?
