One should avert the path of sentient beings to hell, and also avert its cause, and also avert its result. Similarly, one should also avert the path of the birth place of animals, and also avert its cause, and also avert its result. One should also know the paths of non-humans, great belly-goers, nagas, yakshas, and humans, and also know their causes, and also know their results. One should also know the path of the gods, and also know their causes, and also know their results. One should also know the path of Brahma, and also know its cause, and also know its result. One should also know the paths of the clear light ones, the increasing virtue ones, the great fruit ones, the non-conceptual ones, the great ones, the non-afflicted ones, and the gods of Akanishta, and also know their causes, and also know their results. One should also know the path of the gods who approach the sphere of infinite space, and also know their causes, and also know their results. One should also know the path of the gods between those who approach the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception, and also know their causes, and also know their results. One should know the four mindfulnesses, one should know the four right abandonments, one should know the four miraculous legs, one should know the five faculties, one should know the five powers, one should know the seven branches of enlightenment, one should know the eightfold noble path, one should know the gate of liberation emptiness, one should know the gate of liberation signlessness, one should know the gate of liberation wishlessness, one should know the ten powers of the Tathagata, one should know the four fearlessnesses, one should know the four analytical knowledges, one should know the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha, one should know great compassion. Also, one should place sentient beings on the fruit of entering the stream through those paths, and those are placed on the fruit of entering the stream. Whatever is to be placed up to the state of Arhat, those are placed on the state of Arhat. Whatever is to be placed on self-enlightenment, those are placed on self-enlightenment. Whatever is to be placed on enlightenment, those are placed on enlightenment.

Thus it is established. Subhuti, this is indeed the knowledge of the aspect of the path of a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva. Having trained in this, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva enters into the minds of sentient beings. Having entered into the minds of sentient beings, in order that the Dharma taught to them is not in vain and is meaningful, they teach the Dharma in such a way. Why is that? Because, in this way, they are able to extremely understand and extremely realize whether the faculties of others are superior or not. They know exactly as they are the going, coming, dying, and being born of sentient beings. Subhuti, whatever are the aspects of enlightenment that Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas should train in, and all the paths that the Hearers and Solitary Realizers should train in, are contained within this Perfection of Wisdom, therefore Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas should train in the Perfection of Wisdom. After this was said, the venerable Subhuti said this to the Blessed One: Blessed One, if whatever are the aspects of enlightenment, and those Dharmas that are enlightenment, are neither possessed nor not possessed, neither having form nor being visible, nor having obstruction, thus, if it is without characteristics, it is of one characteristic, Blessed One, how can the aspects of enlightenment accomplish enlightenment? Blessed One, neither possessed nor not possessed, neither having form nor being visible, nor having obstruction, thus, if it is without characteristics, the Dharma that is of one characteristic is neither accomplished nor destroyed in any place. Blessed One, for example, space does not accomplish any Dharma, nor does it destroy it. Blessed One, likewise, all Dharmas are empty of their own nature, they do not accomplish any Dharma, nor do they destroy it. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, it is so, it is so. Subhuti, Dharmas that are empty of their own nature do not accomplish or destroy any Dharma. Subhuti.

For those sentient beings who do not understand the Dharma of emptiness of their own nature, it has been taught that these Dharmas of the path to enlightenment are the accomplishment of enlightenment. Furthermore, Subhuti, whatever is form, whatever is feeling, whatever is perception, whatever are volitions, whatever is consciousness, whatever is the perfection of giving, up to the perfection of wisdom, whatever is inner emptiness, whatever is outer emptiness, up to emptiness of own-nature, whatever is the first dhyana, up to the attainment of neither perception nor non-perception, whatever are the mindfulnesses, up to the eightfold noble path, whatever are the three doors to liberation, whatever are the eight liberations, whatever are the nine successive meditative stabilizations, up to the ten powers of the Tathagata, whatever are the four fearlessnesses, whatever are the four analytical knowledges, whatever are the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha, whatever is great compassion, up to all-knowingness, all those Dharmas are neither present nor absent in this noble Dharma-Vinaya. They are not corporeal, invisible, unimpeded, and thus, being without characteristics, they are of one characteristic. These are designated by the Tathagata with worldly terms in order to embrace all sentient beings, but not in ultimate truth. Subhuti, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva should train in all things with knowledge and vision. Having trained in knowledge and vision as it is, some Dharmas are to be realized, and some Dharmas are not to be realized. The questioner said: Blessed One, what are the Dharmas that a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva should realize after training in knowledge and vision? And what are the Dharmas that should not be realized? The Buddha replied: Subhuti, the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas are not to be realized by knowledge and vision. All-knowingness.
