and all emptinesses, the dharmas of the aspect of enlightenment, the ten powers, the fearlessnesses, the individual perfect knowledges, and the unmixed dharmas of the Buddhas, if one does not engage in what is called "difficult to fathom," then one is engaging in the Perfection of Wisdom. Why is that? Shariputra, for example, whatever is the unfathomable nature of form is not form, and feeling, perception, formations, and whatever is the unfathomable nature of consciousness is not consciousness. Likewise, the elements, the sense bases, dependent arising, the perfections, all emptinesses, the dharmas of the aspect of enlightenment, the ten powers, the fearlessnesses, the individual perfect knowledges, and whatever is the unfathomable nature of the unmixed dharmas of the Buddhas is not the dharmas of the Buddhas. If one does not engage in what is called "that," then it is because one is engaging in the Perfection of Wisdom. Why is that? Whatever is the unfathomable nature of the dharmas of the Buddhas is not the dharmas of the Buddhas. Shariputra, furthermore, if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, engaging in the Perfection of Wisdom, does not engage in what is called "form is immeasurable," then one is engaging in the Perfection of Wisdom. Likewise, feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness are immeasurable. If one does not engage in what is called "that," then one is engaging in the Perfection of Wisdom. Why is that? Shariputra, for example, whatever is the immeasurability of form is not form, and feeling, perception, formations, and whatever is the immeasurable nature of consciousness is not consciousness.

That which is the immeasurable nature of the earth is not the dharmas of the Buddhas. Since one does not act in that way, therefore one acts in the Perfection of Wisdom. Why is that? Shariputra, thus, that which is the immeasurable nature of the dharmas of the Buddhas is not the dharmas of the Buddhas. Shariputra asked: Blessed One, this Perfection of Wisdom is so profound, so difficult to fathom, so difficult to realize, and so immeasurable. Blessed One, this Perfection of Wisdom should not be taught in the presence of bodhisattva-mahasattvas who have newly entered the Great Vehicle. When they hear this Perfection of Wisdom, they will be frightened, terrified, and extremely terrified. Blessed One, this should be taught in the presence of bodhisattva-mahasattvas who are irreversible. When they hear this profound Perfection of Wisdom, they will not be frightened, not terrified, not extremely terrified, not hesitant, not doubtful, and after hearing it, they will also accept it with faith. Then, the Lord of the Gods, Indra, said this to the venerable Shariputra: Venerable Shariputra, if this profound Perfection of Wisdom is taught in the presence of bodhisattva-mahasattvas who have newly entered the Great Vehicle, what fault will there be? Shariputra said: Kaushika! If this profound Perfection of Wisdom is taught in the presence of bodhisattva-mahasattvas who have newly entered the Great Vehicle, they will be frightened, terrified, and extremely terrified, and they will regress and abandon it, and they will not accept it with faith. Kaushika! Because when bodhisattva-mahasattvas who have newly entered the Great Vehicle hear this profound Perfection of Wisdom, they will abandon it and accumulate the karma of falling into wrong paths, therefore, for a long time, they are in a state where it is difficult to realize the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Indra said: Venerable Shariputra, Bodhi-

Furthermore, Bodhisattva, When those great Bodhisattvas who have not received predictions hear this profound Perfection of Wisdom, will they not be afraid, not be alarmed, and not be terrified? Shariputra said: Kaushika, those Bodhisattva Mahasattvas who hear this profound Perfection of Wisdom, do not fear, do not tremble, and are not terrified, will soon obtain the prediction of unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment; they will not pass beyond the interval of one or two Tathagatas before obtaining the prediction of unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment. Then, the Blessed One said to the venerable Shariputra: Shariputra, it is so, it is so. Shariputra, those Bodhisattva Mahasattvas who hear this profound Perfection of Wisdom, do not fear, do not tremble, and are not terrified, and who, having heard it, also hold it, recite it, read it, and fully understand it, and who abide in the Perfection of Wisdom as it has been taught, have entered the Great Vehicle correctly for a long time, practice the six perfections, and have attended to and honored many Buddhas. Then, the venerable Shariputra said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, I am very willing to give an example, Sugata, I am willing to explain. The Blessed One said: Shariputra, you may explain. Shariputra said: Blessed One, for example, if a son or daughter of good family who has correctly entered the Great Vehicle dreams of practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, the Perfection of Dhyana, the Perfection of Diligence, the Perfection of Patience, the Perfection of Morality, and the Perfection of Generosity, until reaching the Bodhi tree, Blessed One, then that son or daughter of good family is close to unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment.
