If one cultivates the perfection of generosity, the perfection of ethics, the perfection of patience, and the perfection of diligence, one will abide in the first ground and will abide up to the tenth ground. Thus it is taught that one cultivates that perfection of wisdom through the manner of characteristics, the manner of objects, and the perception of time. Kauśika, this is a counterfeit of the perfection of wisdom. Kauśika, furthermore, those sons or daughters of good families say this: "Son of good family, come here! Cultivate the perfection of wisdom! If you cultivate the perfection of wisdom, you will completely transcend the ground of the hearers, and you will completely transcend the ground of the self-enlightened ones." Thus they teach, this is a counterfeit of the perfection of wisdom. Cultivate the perfection of wisdom! If you cultivate in that way, you will enter the faultless path of the bodhisattva." Thus they teach, this is a counterfeit of the perfection of wisdom. Or, a son or daughter of good family, to those sons or daughters of good family who have entered the Bodhisattva Vehicle, teach thus: 'Sons of good family, whoever holds, retains, recites, comprehends, and properly attends to this Perfection of Wisdom, will possess an immeasurable, countless, and limitless accumulation of merit.' Kausika! Those sons or daughters of good family are teaching in accordance with the Perfection of Wisdom. Kausika! Furthermore, sons or daughters of good family, to those sons or daughters of good family who have entered the Bodhisattva Vehicle, teach thus: 'Son of good family, come here! Having rejoiced in all the roots of virtue of all the Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Ones of the past, future, and present, from the first arising of their minds until they manifestly awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, gather them together and dedicate them entirely to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment!' Kausika! Those sons or daughters of good family are teaching in accordance with the Perfection of Wisdom. Indra asked: 'Bhagavan, how do sons or daughters of good family teach, so as not to teach in accordance with the Perfection of Wisdom to those sons or daughters of good family who have rightly entered the Great Vehicle?' The Bhagavan replied: 'Kausika! Here, sons or daughters of good family teach thus: To those sons or daughters of good family who have rightly entered the Great Vehicle, they do not teach in accordance with the Perfection of Wisdom. Son of good family, come here! Meditate on the Perfection of Wisdom, but do not even see form as impermanent. Why is that? Because form is empty of its own nature. Whatever is the own nature of form, that is without substance. And whatever is without substance, that is the Perfection of Wisdom. And whatever is the Perfection of Wisdom, for it, form is permanent.'
