The perfection of giving, the perfection of ethics, the perfection of patience, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of meditation, and the perfection of wisdom are all empty of inherent existence. They do not abide internally, nor do they abide externally, nor are they perceived as being without both. Shariputra, endowed with life, emptiness of the internal is empty of inherent existence. It does not abide internally, nor does it abide externally, nor is it perceived as being without both. Shariputra, endowed with life, the interval between the emptiness of the nature of non-things is empty of inherent existence. It does not abide internally, nor does it abide externally, nor is it perceived as being without both. Shariputra, endowed with life, the mindfulnesses are empty of inherent existence. They do not abide internally, nor do they abide externally, nor are they perceived as being without both. Similarly, the right abandonments, the bases of miraculous power, the faculties, the powers, the limbs of enlightenment, and the path are empty of inherent existence. They do not abide internally, nor do they abide externally, nor are they perceived as being without both. The powers, the fearlessnesses, the separate correct knowledges, and the eighteen unmixed qualities of the Buddha are empty of inherent existence. They do not abide internally, nor do they abide externally, nor are they perceived as being without both. Shariputra, endowed with life, up to the all-knowingness is empty of inherent existence. It does not abide internally, nor does it abide externally, nor is it perceived as being without both. Shariputra, endowed with life, therefore, all phenomena do not abide because they are empty of inherent existence. Shariputra, endowed with life, thus, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, practicing the six perfections, should completely subdue form. Feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness should be completely subdued. The realms, the sources, dependent origination, the perfections, all emptinesses, the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, the samadhis, the gateways of dharani, the ten powers, and the fearlessnesses.

Thus, he completely gives away possessions, thinking, "I am the giver, this is the receiver, this is the gift. I am without stinginess, I am the benefactor. I completely give away all possessions. I act according to the Buddha's teachings. I practice the perfection of giving." Thinking thus and having given the gift, he shares it with all sentient beings in a visualized way, and prays, "By this fruit of my giving, may these sentient beings be happy in this life, and may they be completely liberated from suffering without taking anything." Thus, he completely dedicates the merit to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. This is giving while clinging to three attachments. What are the three? They are: attachment to self, attachment to others, and attachment to the act of giving. Clinging to these three attachments and giving, this is called the worldly perfection of giving. Why is it called the worldly perfection of giving? Because in this way, one cannot be moved from the world, does not transcend, and does not escape. Therefore, it is called the worldly perfection of giving. Then, what is the supramundane perfection of giving? It is the purity of the three spheres. What is the purity of the three spheres? Venerable Shariputra, here, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva gives a gift, he does not fixate on the self, does not fixate on the receiver, does not fixate on the gift, and does not rejoice in its ripening. Venerable Shariputra, this is the purity of the three spheres of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva. Venerable Shariputra, furthermore, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva gives a gift, and even though he bestows that gift upon all sentient beings, he does not fixate on all sentient beings, nor does he fixate on the self, nor does he fixate on the gift, and he completely dedicates that gift to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, and he does not fixate on enlightenment. This is, Venerable Shariputra, the supramundane perfection of giving.
