So what is it that is not done? It is that a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva does not look at all things. So what is it that a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva completely abandons associating with householders? For example, going from Buddha-field to Buddha-field and being born miraculously, shaving the head and wearing monastic robes, that is the complete abandonment of associating with householders by a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva. So what is it that a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva completely abandons associating with monks and nuns? It is that one does not dwell together with monks and nuns even for the snap of a finger, and even without them, one does not become completely despondent, that is the complete abandonment of associating with monks and nuns by a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva. So what is it that a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva completely abandons being stingy towards one's household? Subhuti, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva should generate this thought: 'I should provide all beings with the means of happiness. These beings have become happy through their own merit, and I should not generate a stingy mind towards this.' Thus, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva should completely abandon being stingy towards one's household. So how should a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva completely abandon places of commotion? If a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva dwells in a place of commotion where there are Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, or where talk related to them arises, or where the generation of thoughts related to them arises, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva should not dwell there, that is the complete abandonment of places of commotion by a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva. So how should a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva completely abandon harmful thoughts? It is not distinguishing between what is a harmful thought and a mind of aggression, not distinguishing between what is a mind of strife and a mind of contention, that is a Bodhisattva-

It is that the Bodhisattva Mahasattva completely abandons the mind of harming. Among these, what is the complete abandonment of praising oneself by the Bodhisattva Mahasattva? It is not truly seeing the inner dharmas; this is the complete abandonment of praising oneself by the Bodhisattva Mahasattva. Among these, what is the complete abandonment of slandering others by the Bodhisattva Mahasattva? For example, not truly seeing the external dharmas; this is the complete abandonment of slandering others by the Bodhisattva Mahasattva. Among these, how should the Bodhisattva Mahasattva completely abandon the paths of the ten non-virtuous actions? Like this, these even obstruct the good realms, what need is there to mention the noble path, what need is there to mention Bodhi? Therefore, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should completely abandon the paths of the ten non-virtuous actions. Among these, how should the Bodhisattva Mahasattva completely abandon excessive pride? Like this, if he does not truly see any dharma, what excess is there that would cause him to have excessive pride? Therefore, excessive pride should be abandoned. Among these, how should the Bodhisattva Mahasattva completely abandon arrogance? Like this, the things that cause arrogance to arise are not truly seen; therefore, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should completely abandon arrogance. Among these, how should the Bodhisattva Mahasattva completely abandon perversion? Because things are not observable, therefore, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should completely abandon perversion. Among these, how should the Bodhisattva Mahasattva completely abandon the imprints of desire, hatred, and ignorance? Like this, the objects of desire, hatred, and ignorance are not truly seen; therefore, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should completely abandon the imprints of desire, hatred, and ignorance. Among these, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, the sixth ground

What is the complete accomplishment of the six dharmas? It is like this: the six perfections, namely, the perfection of generosity, the perfection of ethics, the perfection of patience, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of meditation, and the perfection of wisdom. These six perfections should be completely accomplished. The Buddhas, the Bhagavat, the Shravakas, and the Pratyekabuddhas also abide in these six perfections and have crossed over the five oceans of knowable things. They have crossed over, they will cross over. What are the five? They are the past, the future, the present, the inexpressible, and the unconditioned. Thus, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should completely accomplish these six perfections. In this regard, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should in no way abandon the mind of the Shravaka. Why is that? Because it is not the path to enlightenment. The mind of the Pratyekabuddha should be completely abandoned. Why is that? Because it is not the path to enlightenment. The mind of complete despair should be completely abandoned. Why is that? Because it is not the path to enlightenment. One should not be discouraged when seeing a beggar. Why is that? Because it is not the path to enlightenment. Having completely abandoned all things, one should not be displeased. Why is that? Because it is not the path to enlightenment. From the moment of the first arising of the mind, one should always give, and one should not accumulate. These six dharmas should be completely abandoned. In this regard, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should in no way cling to self. Therefore, self is also completely non-existent. Likewise, one should apply this to clinging to sentient beings, clinging to life, and clinging to persons. Why is that? Because they are completely non-existent. In this regard, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should in no way cling to annihilation. Why is that? Because the Dharma
