What is skillful in the method of not falling into dullness and distraction? The Blessed One said: Subhuti, here, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, with the attention endowed with all-aspects of knowledge, he individually discerns the aspect of impermanence on form, but he does not fixate on it either. With the attention endowed with all-aspects of knowledge, he individually discerns the aspect of impermanence on feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness, but he does not fixate on it either. Subhuti, this should be understood as a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva being skillful in the method of practicing the Perfection of Wisdom. Subhuti, furthermore, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, with the attention endowed with all-aspects of knowledge, he individually discerns on form the aspects of suffering, selflessness, peace, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, non-fabrication, and detachment, but he does not fixate on it either. With the attention endowed with all-aspects of knowledge, he individually discerns on feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness the aspects of suffering, selflessness, peace, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, non-fabrication, and detachment, but he does not fixate on it either.

Thinking, but that is also unattainable. Separately contemplating that feelings, thoughts, actions, and consciousness are secluded, but that is also unattainable. Subhuti, that is the bodhisattva mahasattva who is skilled in means to practice the prajnaparamita. Subhuti, when the bodhisattva mahasattva contemplates in this way, he thinks to himself: I should teach all sentient beings that form is impermanent, and I should do so in an unattainable way. Feelings, thoughts, actions, and consciousness are impermanent, and I should teach them in an unattainable way. Form is suffering, as well as selflessness, peace, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, non-fabrication, and seclusion, I should teach these dharmas, and I should do so in an unattainable way. Feelings, thoughts, actions, and consciousness are suffering, as well as selflessness, peace, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, non-fabrication, and seclusion, I should teach these dharmas, and I should do so in an unattainable way, he thinks to himself.
