Nor will it change. Why is that? Because he has thus come to know the faculties of others very well. That is, he fully understands the paths and non-paths of sentient beings, as well as their death and birth. Subhuti, a bodhisattva-mahasattva should thus practice the perfection of wisdom. For in this perfection of wisdom, there is nothing that is not included in any aspect of enlightenment that a bodhisattva-mahasattva should study, or that a shravaka should study, or that a pratyekabuddha should study. The petitioner said: Blessed One, if that is so, what are the dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment, and what are the dharmas of enlightenment? All those dharmas are neither possessed nor not possessed. There is no form, no indication, no obstruction. Thus, if there is no characteristic, how can the dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment accomplish enlightenment in one characteristic? Blessed One, it is neither possessed nor not possessed, and there is no form, no indication, no obstruction. Thus, if there is no characteristic, there is no accomplishment or destruction for any dharma in one characteristic. Blessed One, just as the sky does not accomplish or destroy any dharma. Blessed One, likewise, a dharma that is empty of its own characteristic does not accomplish or destroy any dharma. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, it is so, it is so. A dharma that is empty of its own characteristic does not accomplish or destroy any dharma. Subhuti, for the sake of those sentient beings who do not understand the dharma that is empty of its own characteristic, it is said: These are the dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment that lead to the attainment of enlightenment. Subhuti, that is, whatever is form, feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness, whatever is sense base, element, and dependent origination, whatever is the perfection of generosity, the perfection of ethics, the perfection of patience, and the perfection of diligence,

They are formless, invisible, and unobstructed. Thus, even without characteristics, there is a single characteristic. The Tathagata speaks of them in this way using worldly terms for the purpose of benefiting sentient beings, but in ultimate truth, it is not so. Bodhisattvas, great beings, should learn all these through knowledge and vision. Having learned through knowing and seeing them as they are, some dharmas should be realized, and some should not be realized. So, what dharmas should a Bodhisattva, a great being, learn through knowledge and vision and then realize, and what dharmas should not be realized? Hearers and

The teachings of the Pratyekabuddhas are learned through knowledge and vision, but they are not realized. With the wisdom of all-knowingness, all phenomena are realized in all aspects. Subhuti, thus should a Bodhisattva Mahasattva study the noble Dharma and Vinaya, in the Perfection of Wisdom.
