and those who abide in the Prajñāpāramitā as taught, they have entered the Mahāyāna correctly since a long time ago. They have practiced the six pāramitās. They have attended to and honored many Buddhas. Śāradvatīputra said: "Bhagavan, I dare to speak clearly about that example. Sugata, I dare to speak clearly about that example." The Bhagavan said: "Śāradvatīputra, generate courage." Śāradvatīputra said: "Bhagavan, for example, if a son or daughter of a bodhisattva-vehicle lineage meditates on the Prajñāpāramitā in a dream, and enters into samādhi, exerts effort, practices patience, keeps moral discipline, and gives generously, even up to reaching the essence of enlightenment, then, Bhagavan, one should know that son or daughter of good family is close to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Bhagavan, what need is there to say that a bodhisattva-mahāsattva who is not deluded by sleep meditates on the Prajñāpāramitā, abides in samādhi, exerts effort, practices patience, keeps moral discipline, and gives generously? Bhagavan, one should know that son or daughter of good family is close to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Bhagavan, those who hear this profound Prajñāpāramitā, and having heard it, hold it and diligently practice it in suchness, their roots of virtue are fully matured. Bhagavan, those bodhisattvas who hold, recite, understand, and properly attend to this profound Prajñāpāramitā, they have entered the Mahāyāna correctly since a long time ago, and have generated roots of virtue. They have attended to and honored many Buddhas. They have been embraced by virtuous friends. Bhagavan, those sons and daughters of good family are close to being prophesied to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment.

will become one who is prophesied, and will be prophesied to unexcelled, perfect enlightenment. Blessed One, any son or daughter of good family who, being satisfied and approving of this profound Perfection of Wisdom, also holds, bears, recites, thoroughly understands, and properly attends to it, those sons and daughters of good family should be known as non-retreating from unexcelled, perfect enlightenment. Blessed One, for example, if a person comes from a remote hermitage a hundred leagues away, or from a remote hermitage two hundred, three hundred, four hundred, or five hundred leagues away, when he comes, does he see the advance signs of a village, city, town, district, and the entourage of a king's palace, such as a cowherd, a shepherd, a boundary, an abundant garden of edible plants, or an abundant forest? If he does not see those, but sees other signs by which it is evident that there is a village, city, town, district, or the entourage of a king's palace, he thinks, 'Since these advance signs appear, it is near from here to a village, city, town, district, or the entourage of a king's palace.' He becomes relieved, and thereafter he has no fear of thieves, fear of robbers, fear of fierce wild animals, or fear of hunger and thirst. Blessed One, likewise, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva is satisfied with this profound Perfection of Wisdom, and being satisfied, also holds, bears, recites, thoroughly understands, and properly attends to it, Blessed One, at that time it should be known that that Bodhisattva Mahasattva is close to being prophesied, and before long will awaken to unexcelled, perfect enlightenment. That Bodhisattva Mahasattva will thereafter not be afraid of the Hearer's ground or the Solitary Buddha's ground. Why is that? Because, for example, this profound Perfection of Wisdom
