The noble truths and the meditations and the immeasurables and the formless attainments and the eight liberations and the nine sequential abidings and emptiness and signlessness and wishlessness and the superknowledges are immeasurable, if one does not practice thus, one practices the Perfection of Wisdom. The samadhis and the doors of dharani are immeasurable, if one does not practice thus, one practices the Perfection of Wisdom. The ten powers of the Tathagata and the four fearlessnesses and the four individual perfect knowledges and the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha are immeasurable, if one does not practice thus, one practices the Perfection of Wisdom. Even up to all-knowingness is immeasurable, if one does not practice thus, one practices the Perfection of Wisdom. Why is that? Sharadvatiputra, the immeasurability of form is not form. The immeasurability of feeling and perception and formation and consciousness is not consciousness. The immeasurability even up to all-knowingness is not all-knowingness. Sharadvatiputra said: How amazing, Bhagavan! This Perfection of Wisdom is so profound! So difficult to fathom! So difficult to realize! Bhagavan, this Perfection of Wisdom is so immeasurable! Bhagavan, this should not be taught in front of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who has newly entered the Great Vehicle, because after hearing this profound Perfection of Wisdom, they may become afraid and frightened, they may become doubtful and hesitant, they may become without faith. Bhagavan, this profound Perfection of Wisdom should be taught in front of a non-retreating Bodhisattva Mahasattva, because after hearing this profound Perfection of Wisdom, they will not be afraid or frightened, they will not become doubtful or hesitant, and after hearing it, they will increasingly develop faith and holding and, upholding and reciting and understanding.

will make and properly attend to it. Then the Lord of the Gods, Indra, said to the venerable Sharadvatiputra: Venerable Sharadvatiputra, if this profound Perfection of Wisdom is taught in the presence of a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who has newly entered the Great Vehicle, what fault will there be? Sharadvatiputra said: Kaushika, if this profound Perfection of Wisdom is taught in the presence of a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who has newly entered the Great Vehicle, having heard this profound Perfection of Wisdom, he will be terrified, he will be dismayed, he will be frightened, he will turn back, he will abandon it, and he will not even believe in it. Kaushika, having heard this Perfection of Wisdom, that Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who has newly entered the Great Vehicle, because of abandoning it, will manifestly perform and so forth the karma that will cause him to fall back. And because of that karma done and accumulated, it will be difficult to awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. There is such a situation. Indra said: Venerable Sharadvatiputra, is it possible that a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who has not been predicted will hear this profound Perfection of Wisdom and will not be terrified, dismayed, or frightened? He said: Kaushika, those Bodhisattvas-Mahasattvas who, having heard this profound Perfection of Wisdom, are not terrified, dismayed, or frightened, will soon be predicted to attain unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. They will not go beyond one or two Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfect Buddhas before being predicted to attain unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Then the Blessed One said to the venerable Sharadvatiputra: Sharadvatiputra, it is so, it is so. Sharadvatiputra, if a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, having heard this profound Perfection of Wisdom, is not terrified, dismayed, or frightened, and having heard it, he will hold it more and more, and recite and completely
