Chapter Thirty. Chapter Thirty. Then, the Lord of the Gods, Indra, thought to himself: "Those sons of good families and daughters of good families who hear this Perfection of Wisdom have previously paid homage to the Buddhas. Those sentient beings who hear this Perfection of Wisdom have planted roots of virtue with the Tathāgata. Those sentient beings who hear this Perfection of Wisdom are embraced by virtuous friends. What need is there to mention those who hold, recite, comprehend, properly attend to, remember, retain, recite, and comprehend, and who diligently practice the Perfection of Wisdom? Those sons or daughters of good families who, having heard this Perfection of Wisdom, are not afraid, not startled, and do not tremble, have previously questioned and inquired of the Tathāgatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Ones. Those sons or daughters of good families who, having heard this Perfection of Wisdom, are not afraid, not startled, and do not tremble, and who hold, recite, comprehend, and properly attend to it, practice the Perfection of Giving for many hundreds of millions of kalpas. They practice the Perfection of Morality, Patience, Diligence, Meditation, and Wisdom." Then, the venerable Śāradvatīputra said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, those sons or daughters of good families who, having heard this profound Perfection of Wisdom, are not afraid, not startled, and do not tremble, and who hold, recite, and comprehend it, and properly attend to it, should be regarded as being no different from irreversible Bodhisattva-Mahāsattvas. Why is that? Blessed One, this Perfection of Wisdom is profound. Those who have not previously practiced the six perfections cannot, even having heard this profound Perfection of Wisdom, be able to believe in it. Blessed One,

Whether it be a son or daughter of good family, those who, upon hearing this profound Prajnaparamita, have minds that turn away, have also abandoned this profound Prajnaparamita in the past. Why is that? It is because when this profound Prajnaparamita is taught, those sons or daughters of good family lack faith and respect. Those sons or daughters of good family have not served or honored the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas, and the Shravakas in the past. How then would they practice the Paramita of Generosity? How would they practice the Paramita of Morality, the Paramita of Patience, the Paramita of Diligence, the Paramita of Meditation, and the Paramita of Wisdom? How would they meditate on inner emptiness? How would they meditate on emptiness up to the emptiness of the nature of non-things? How would they meditate on the mindfulnesses? How would they meditate on the perfect abandonments, the miraculous feet, the faculties, the powers, the limbs of enlightenment, and the eightfold noble path? How would they meditate on the noble truths? How would they meditate on the meditations, the immeasurables, and the formless absorptions? How would they meditate on the eight liberations? How would they meditate on the nine successive abidings? How would they meditate on emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness? How would they meditate on the superknowledges? How would they meditate on the samadhis and the gateways of dharani? How would they meditate on the powers of the Tathagata, the fearlessnesses, the distinct perfect knowledges, and the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha? They have not fully inquired, nor have they fully asked. Then, the Lord of the Gods, Indra, said to the venerable Sharadvatiputra, "Venerable Sharadvatiputra, this Prajnaparamita is extremely profound. When this profound Prajnaparamita is taught, those who have not practiced enlightenment in the past
