If one meditates on patience, it will only become patience itself, not the perfection of patience. If one thinks, "I will exert effort, I will exert effort for this purpose," then by exerting effort in that way, it will only become effort itself, not the perfection of effort. If one thinks, "I will enter into samadhi, I will abide in these samadhis," then by abiding in samadhi in that way, it will only become samadhi itself, not the perfection of samadhi. If one thinks, "I will cultivate wisdom, I will cultivate this wisdom," then by cultivating wisdom in that way, it will only become wisdom itself, not the perfection of wisdom. Kausika, whether a son or daughter of good family, by engaging in such practices with attachment to signs, will not perfect the perfection of generosity, nor will they perfect the perfections of morality, patience, effort, meditation, and wisdom. Indra asked: "Bhagavan, how should a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practice in order to perfect the perfection of generosity? How should they practice in order to perfect the perfection of morality? How should they practice in order to perfect the perfection of patience? How should they practice in order to perfect the perfection of effort? How should they practice in order to perfect the perfection of meditation? How should they practice in order to perfect the perfection of wisdom?" The Bhagavan replied: "Kausika, in this case, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva gives alms, they do not fixate on the act of giving, nor do they fixate on the recipient of the alms. When guarding morality, they do not fixate on morality itself, nor do they fixate on the act of upholding morality. When cultivating patience, they do not fixate on patience itself, nor do they fixate on the act of cultivating patience. When exerting effort, they do not fixate on effort itself, nor do they fixate on the act of exerting effort. When entering into samadhi, they do not fixate on samadhi itself, nor do they fixate on the act of cultivating samadhi. When cultivating wisdom, they do not fixate on wisdom itself, nor do they fixate on the act of cultivating wisdom, nor do they fixate on being endowed with wisdom."

That is the object of focus. Kauśika, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who practices in that way will perfect the perfection of generosity. The perfection of ethics, the perfection of patience, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of meditation, and the perfection of wisdom will be perfected. Kauśika, a son or daughter of good family who has not understood in that way should teach the Prajñāpāramitā that is meaningful and literal. The perfection of meditation, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of patience, the perfection of ethics, and the perfection of generosity should be taught. Why is that? Kauśika, in the future, some sons or daughters of good family will show images of the Prajñāpāramitā to those of the Bodhisattva Vehicle. There, whichever son or daughter of good family has entered into unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment, even they, having heard that image, will become guides, and this Prajñāpāramitā, which is meaningful and literal, should be taught to them. Indra asked: Blessed One, what is the image of the Prajñāpāramitā? The Blessed One said: Kauśika, here, sons or daughters of good family think, 'We are teaching the Prajñāpāramitā.' Those are the ones who show the image. Indra asked: Blessed One, how do those sons or daughters of good family show the image of the Prajñāpāramitā? The Blessed One said: Kauśika, here, when those sons or daughters of good family teach the Prajñāpāramitā, they show the image of the Prajñāpāramitā. To that, this is the image of the Prajñāpāramitā: they teach that form is impermanent. They teach that form is suffering, selfless, and impure. Feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness are impermanent.

It teaches what is called "Ga Go". Feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness are suffering, it teaches no-self, and it teaches impurity. It is said that whoever practices in this way is practicing the Prajnaparamita. To whom it is taught, they will also realize that form is impermanent. They will realize that form is suffering, realize no-self, and realize impurity. Feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness will be realized as impermanent. Feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness will be realized as suffering, realized as no-self, and realized as impure. Thus, they realize that form is impermanent, realize that form is suffering, realize no-self, and realize impurity. Feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness realize that it is impermanent, feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness realize that it is suffering, realize that it is selfless, and realize that it is impure, and then they will practice the image of Prajnaparamita. It teaches that the eye is impermanent. It teaches that the eye is suffering, teaches no-self, and teaches impurity. It teaches that ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind are impermanent. It teaches that ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind are suffering, teaches no-self, and teaches impurity. It teaches that form is impermanent. It teaches that form is suffering, teaches no-self, and teaches impurity. It teaches that sound, smell, taste, touch, and dharma are impermanent. It teaches that sound, smell, taste, touch, and dharma are suffering, teaches no-self, and teaches impurity. It teaches that eye consciousness is impermanent. It teaches that eye consciousness is suffering, teaches no-self, and teaches impurity. It teaches that ear consciousness, nose consciousness, tongue consciousness, body consciousness, and mind consciousness are impermanent.
