The twelve sources, the eighteen elements, and dependent origination, one does not study for the sake of completely grasping and eliminating.

Why does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva not train to completely grasp and eliminate form? Why does he not train to completely grasp and eliminate feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness? Why does he not train to completely grasp and eliminate even all-knowingness? Subhuti replied: O son of Sharadvati, endowed with life, it is like this: there is no complete grasping of form, because of the emptiness of inner and outer; therefore, one does not completely grasp form as form. It is like this: there is no complete grasping of feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness, because of the emptiness of inner and outer; therefore, one does not completely grasp consciousness as consciousness. It is like this: there is no complete grasping of the sense bases, elements, and dependent origination, because of the emptiness of inner and outer; therefore, one does not completely grasp dependent origination as dependent origination. It is like this: there is no complete grasping of the perfections, all emptinesses, the dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment, the noble truths, the meditations, the immeasurables, the formless absorptions, the liberations, the successive abidings, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, the superknowledges, the samadhis, the dharani gates, the powers of the Tathagata, the fearlessnesses, the separate correct knowledges, and the unshared Buddha-dharmas, because of the emptiness of inner and outer; therefore, one does not completely grasp the unshared Buddha-dharmas as the unshared Buddha-dharmas. It is like this: there is no complete grasping even of all-knowingness, because of the emptiness of inner and outer; therefore, one does not completely grasp all-knowingness as all-knowingness. O son of Sharadvati, endowed with life, thus, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva arises in all-knowingness by way of not completely grasping any dharma.

Subhuti said: Venerable Saradvatiputra, Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas who study in this way, studying the Prajñāpāramitā, generate all-aspect knowledge by the principle of not grasping any dharmas. The speaker said: Venerable Subhuti, how can Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas who study in this way, studying for the sake of embracing all dharmas and eliminating all dharmas, generate all-aspect knowledge? Subhuti said: Venerable Saradvatiputra, when Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas practice the Prajñāpāramitā, they do not see the arising of form, nor its cessation, nor its taking, nor its abandoning, nor its complete defilement, nor its purification, nor its accumulation, nor its subtraction, nor its loss, nor its gain. Why is that? Because form is without its own nature and is unattainable. They do not see the arising of feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness, nor their cessation, nor their taking, nor their abandoning, nor their complete defilement, nor their purification, nor their accumulation, nor their subtraction, nor their loss, nor their gain. Why is that? Because consciousness is without its own nature and is unattainable.
