Rabjor, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, with a mind of loving-kindness, a vast mind, extremely expansive, non-dual, immeasurable, unobstructed, harmless, unperturbed, completely perfect, and highly cultivated, filling the world with the realm of Dharma, reaching the limits of the sky, expanding and filling the ten directions, generating joy, and acting in a non-attached manner. Corresponding to compassion, corresponding to joy, and corresponding to equanimity, the vast mind is extremely expansive, non-dual, immeasurable, unobstructed, harmless, unperturbed, completely perfect, and highly cultivated, filling the world with the realm of Dharma, reaching the limits of the sky, expanding and filling the ten directions, generating joy, and acting in a non-attached manner. These are the four immeasurables. What are the four formless absorptions? Rabjor, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, completely transcending the perception of form in every way, all thoughts of obstruction disappear, and no longer contemplating various thoughts, thinking: space is infinite! Thus, he dwells in the sphere of infinite space. Then, completely transcending the sphere of infinite space, thinking: consciousness is infinite! Thus, he dwells in the sphere of infinite consciousness. Then, completely transcending the sphere of infinite consciousness, thinking: there is nothing at all! Thus, he dwells in the sphere of nothingness. Then, completely transcending the sphere of nothingness, he dwells in the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception. These are the four formless absorptions. What are the eight liberations? One who has form sees forms, this is the first liberation. Inwardly possessing no thought of form, yet being able to see external forms, this is the second liberation. Focusing on the beautiful, this is the third liberation. Completely

Having completely transcended the perception of..., with the perceptions of obstruction ceasing, and not focusing on various perceptions, thinking 'space is infinite,' one approaches and abides in the sphere of infinite space. Having completely transcended the sphere of infinite space in every way, thinking 'consciousness is infinite,' one approaches and abides in the sphere of infinite consciousness. Having completely transcended the sphere of infinite consciousness in every way, thinking 'there is nothing at all,' one approaches and abides in the sphere of nothingness. Having completely transcended the sphere of nothingness in every way, one approaches and abides in the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception. Having completely transcended the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception in every way, between the cessation of perception and feeling, one approaches and abides in a way that is not obvious. These are the eight liberations. Now, what are the nine successive abidings in meditative absorption? Subhuti, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva is practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, secluded from desires, secluded from unwholesome dharmas, with initial application and sustained application, born of seclusion, with joy and pleasure, one approaches and abides in the first dhyana. With the cessation of initial application and sustained application, with inner purity, the mind becomes unified, without initial application, without sustained application, born of concentration, with joy and pleasure, one approaches and abides in the second dhyana. Having abandoned attachment to joy, abiding in equanimity, mindful and with clear awareness, experiencing pleasure with the body, the noble ones say that he is mindful, dwells in pleasure, and is equanimous, one approaches and abides in the third dhyana, which is without joy. Having abandoned pleasure, having abandoned suffering, with the previous cessation of joy and sorrow, without pleasure, without suffering, with purity of equanimity and mindfulness, one approaches and abides in the fourth dhyana. Having completely transcended the perception of form in every way,

Having completely transcended the perception, all obstructing perceptions cease, and not contemplating various perceptions, thinking "space is infinite," one dwells in the sphere of infinite space. In every way, having completely transcended the sphere of infinite space, thinking "consciousness is infinite," one dwells in the sphere of infinite consciousness. In every way, having completely transcended the sphere of infinite consciousness, thinking "there is nothing at all," one dwells in the sphere of nothingness. In every way, having completely transcended the sphere of nothingness, one dwells in the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception. In every way, having completely transcended the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception, one approaches and dwells in the cessation of perception and feeling in a non-manifest way. These are the nine successive states of meditative absorption. Subhuti, furthermore, the Great Vehicle of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva is as follows: the ten powers of the Tathagata. What are the ten? Subhuti, here, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he thoroughly knows what is a place as it truly is. He also thoroughly knows what is not a place as it truly is. He thoroughly knows the past, future, and present actions, and the ripening of actions, the nature of places, and the nature of causes as they truly are. He thoroughly knows that the world realms are diverse and manifold as they truly are. He thoroughly knows the various inclinations and manifold inclinations of other sentient beings and individuals as they truly are. He thoroughly knows the superior and inferior faculties of other sentient beings and individuals as they truly are. He thoroughly knows the path that leads everywhere as it truly is. He thoroughly knows the faculties, powers, limbs of enlightenment, meditative stabilizations, liberations, samadhis, meditative absorptions, and all defilements.
