Ah, the great perfection of meditative concentration. When a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, with a mind endowed with all-knowingness, contemplates the limbs of the first dhyana, the second dhyana, the third dhyana, and the fourth dhyana, and the limbs of meditative concentration, the aspect of impermanence, the aspect of suffering, the aspect of selflessness, the aspect of peace, the aspect of emptiness, the aspect of signlessness, and the aspect of wishlessness, yet does not fixate on these meditative concentrations, immeasurables, and formless attainments, and does not have pride in them, this is the Prajnaparamita of a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva. Sharadvatiputra, this is a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, the Great Vehicle that practices Prajnaparamita. Thus, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva has truly entered the Great Vehicle. Sharadvatiputra, furthermore, the Great Vehicle of a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva is to cultivate the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment in all aspects, and to cultivate the noble truths, meditative concentrations, immeasurables, formless attainments, liberations, the nine successive abidings, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, superknowledges, samadhis, dharani gates, the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, great love, great compassion, and the unshared qualities of the Buddhas in all aspects, up to the cultivation of all-knowingness. Sharadvatiputra, this is the Great Vehicle of a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva. Sharadvatiputra, furthermore, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abides in the samadhi of love, and thinks, "I shall completely protect all sentient beings." He strives in this. Abiding in the samadhi of compassion, he has compassion for sentient beings, compas-

Practicing love. Abiding equally in the samadhi of joy, thinking, "I shall liberate all sentient beings." Abiding equally in the samadhi of equanimity, diligently striving to exhaust the defilements of sentient beings. This is the perfection of generosity practiced by immeasurable Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas. When a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abides equally in the aspects, characteristics, and signs of meditation and the immeasurables, and even when arising, dedicates it only to omniscience, without dedicating it to the level of a Hearer or a Solitary Realizer, this is the perfection of ethics, completely uncorrupted, practiced by immeasurable Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas. When a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices without mixing with meditation, the immeasurables, and the formless attainments, and does not generate desire for the two levels, the level of a Hearer or a Solitary Realizer, but only believes in and rejoices in omniscience, this is the perfection of patience practiced by immeasurable Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas. When a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, with the generation of a mind endowed with omniscience, practices with unwavering diligence for the sake of thoroughly abandoning non-virtuous dharmas and perfectly accomplishing virtuous dharmas, this is the perfection of diligence practiced by immeasurable Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas. When a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abides equally in meditation, the immeasurables, and the formless attainments, but is not born by the power of meditation, the immeasurables, and the formless attainments, nor does he experience their taste, nor is he robbed by them, this is the perfection of meditation practiced by immeasurable Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas. When a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, with a mind endowed with omniscience,

Moreover, they also abide in and arise from the formless attainments. Although they fully understand them with the aspects of impermanence, the aspects of suffering, the aspects of selflessness, the aspects of peace, the aspects of emptiness, the aspects of signlessness, and the aspects of wishlessness, they do not enter into the faultless state of the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas. This is the Perfection of Wisdom in which Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas engage for immeasurable beings. Sharadvatiputra, this is the Great Vehicle of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva. Furthermore, Sharadvatiputra, the Great Vehicle of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva is that even though they know the emptiness of the internal, it is not in the manner of focusing on it. Even though they know the emptiness of the external, the emptiness of the internal and external, and the emptiness of the nature of non-things, it is not in the manner of focusing on it. Sharadvatiputra, this is the Great Vehicle of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva. Furthermore, Sharadvatiputra, the Great Vehicle of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva is that their minds are not distracted with respect to all dharmas, and they know how to abide in equanimity. Sharadvatiputra, this is the Great Vehicle of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva. Furthermore, Sharadvatiputra, the Great Vehicle of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva is that they do not engage their wisdom with what is called permanent. They do not engage their wisdom with what is called impermanent, happiness, suffering, self, selflessness, beautiful, or ugly. Sharadvatiputra, this is the Great Vehicle of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva in the manner of not focusing on it. Furthermore, Sharadvatiputra, the Great Vehicle of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva is that they do not engage their wisdom with the past time, they do not engage their wisdom with the future time, and they do not engage their wisdom with the present time. Also, in the manner of not focusing on it, this is that they do not engage their wisdom with the three times. Sharadvatiputra, this is also the Great Vehicle of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva.
