The great armor of skillful means by which a great bodhisattva practices the perfection of wisdom. Sharadvatiputra, endowed with life, thus, a bodhisattva mahasattva is called one who has donned great armor. Sharadvatiputra, endowed with life, when a bodhisattva mahasattva has thus donned great armor, in each of the world realms as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River in the eastern direction, the southern, the western, the northern, the northeastern, the southeastern, the southwestern, the northwestern, the lower, and the upper directions, the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, who abide, also especially proclaim, especially proclaim, and completely announce the name, saying, 'In such and such a world realm, there is such a bodhisattva mahasattva who has donned great armor, who completely ripens sentient beings, who completely purifies the Buddha-fields, and who sports with magical powers,' thus making a sound, they proclaim the sound accordingly. It was said: 'Sharadvatiputra, endowed with life, by what measure is a bodhisattva mahasattva said to have truly entered the Great Vehicle? What is the Great Vehicle of a bodhisattva mahasattva?' Sharadvatiputra, endowed with life, replied: 'Sharadvatiputra, endowed with life, here, a bodhisattva mahasattva practices the six perfections, that is, he practices the perfection of generosity, and is separated from desire, separated from sinful, unwholesome dharmas, with initial application and sustained application, with joy and bliss born of separation, he abides having attained the first dhyana. Likewise, he abides having attained the second dhyana, the third dhyana, and the fourth dhyana. He cultivates a mind associated with loving-kindness, vast, extremely vast, non-dual, immeasurable, unobstructed, harmless, and unperturbed, completely and thoroughly, filling the ten directions that extend to the limit of space, pervading the world with the sphere of dharma, and he contemplates and acts accordingly. He cultivates a mind associated with compassion, associated with joy, and associated with equanimity, vast, extremely vast, non-dual, immeasurable, unobstructed, harmless, and unperturbed,

Without end, completely perfect, extensively cultivated, pervading the realm of the world and dharma, filling the ten directions extensively up to the edge of the sky, believing and practicing. These immeasurable ones and those existing in the formless realm, equally measuring with the aspect, nature, and characteristics of space, completely tending towards the all-knowingness, this is the perfection of generosity of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva. Similarly, the perfection of discipline, the perfection of patience, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of meditation, and the perfection of wisdom are also like that. O son of Sharadvati, endowed with life, thus, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva is said to have truly entered the Great Vehicle. O son of Sharadvati, endowed with life, furthermore, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, with a great mind endowed with loving-kindness, extremely vast, non-dual, immeasurable, unobstructed, harmless, unannoyed, completely perfect, extensively cultivated, pervading the realm of the world and dharma, filling the ten directions extensively up to the edge of the sky, believing and practicing. With a mind endowed with compassion, with a mind endowed with joy, and with a mind endowed with equanimity, a great mind, extremely vast, non-dual, immeasurable, unobstructed, harmless, unannoyed, completely perfect, extensively cultivated, pervading the realm of the world and dharma, filling the ten directions extensively up to the edge of the sky, believing and practicing. Therefore, separated from desire, separated from sinful and unwholesome dharmas, possessing investigation and analysis, possessing examination, with joy and bliss born from separation, dwells closely in the first dhyana. Similarly, dwells closely in the second dhyana, the third dhyana, and the fourth dhyana. Dwells closely in the sphere of infinite space, the sphere of infinite consciousness, the sphere of nothingness, and the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception. This is the samadhi of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva. Bodhisattva

That great hero, with a mind endowed with omniscience and preceded by great compassion, in order to completely abandon afflictions, speaks, explains, shows, and interprets those meditations, immeasurables, and formless absorptions to others, and also properly shows their taste, faults, and arising. This is the perfection of generosity of a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva. When a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, with those minds endowed with omniscience, abides in and arises from those meditations, immeasurables, and formless absorptions, not understanding the mind of a Hearer or a Solitary Buddha, or the intention of another who has generated the mind [of enlightenment], this is the perfection of discipline of a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva that has not declined. Thus, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, with minds endowed with omniscience, practices with those meditations, immeasurables, and formless absorptions, thinking, "In order to exhaust the afflictions of all sentient beings, I will teach the Dharma," and enduring, believing, contemplating, remembering, and understanding those minds, this is the perfection of patience of a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva. When a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, with minds endowed with omniscience, practices with those meditations, immeasurables, and formless absorptions, not diminishing effort for the sake of the benefit of all sentient beings and for the sake of omniscience, this is the perfection of diligence of a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva. When a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, with minds endowed with omniscience, abides in and arises from meditations, liberations, samadhis, and attainments, not falling into the level of a Hearer or the level of a Solitary Buddha, this is the [perfection of meditation of a] Bodhisattva-Mahasattva.
