Venerable, emptiness is not separate from the very impermanence of form, the very impermanence of form is emptiness, and emptiness is the very impermanence of form. World-Honored One, therefore, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he should not abide in the thought that "form is impermanent." He should not abide in the thought that feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness are impermanent. Why is that? World-Honored One, it is because, thus, the impermanence of consciousness, the impermanence of consciousness is empty, and the emptiness of the impermanence of consciousness is not the impermanence of consciousness.

Self is also emptiness. Emptiness is also the nature of suffering of consciousness. World-Honored One, in this way, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he should not abide in the thought that "consciousness is suffering." Nor should he abide in the thought that "form is without self." What is the reason for this? World-Honored One, this is because the very nature of form being without self, the very nature of form being without self is empty.

Furthermore, when practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, one should not dwell on the thought of "form is peaceful." Neither should one dwell on the thought of "feeling, perception, mental formations, and consciousness are peaceful." Why is that? World Honored One, it is because consciousness is itself peaceful. Consciousness is empty by its very peacefulness. The emptiness of the peacefulness of consciousness is not the peacefulness of consciousness itself.
