One does not combine or differentiate by saying "it exists" or "it does not exist." One does not combine or differentiate by saying "feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness exist" or "they do not exist." One does not combine or differentiate by saying "up to the state of all-knowingness, it exists" or "it does not exist." When practicing in the Perfection of Wisdom, one does not fixate on the notion of "practicing." One does not fixate on the notion of "not practicing." One does not fixate on the notion of "practicing while practicing, or not practicing while not practicing." One does not fixate on the notion of "neither practicing nor not practicing." Sharadvatiputra, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who practices in this way is said to be diligent in the Perfection of Wisdom. Sharadvatiputra, furthermore, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices in the Perfection of Wisdom, he does not practice in the Perfection of Wisdom for the sake of the Perfection of Generosity. For the sake of the Perfection of Ethics, the Perfection of Patience, the Perfection of Diligence, the Perfection of Meditation, and the Perfection of Wisdom, he does not practice in the Perfection of Wisdom. From inner emptiness to the emptiness of the nature of non-things, he does not practice in the Perfection of Wisdom. For the sake of unborn emptiness and unceasing emptiness, he does not practice in the Perfection of Wisdom. For the sake of the ground of non-retrogression, he does not practice in the Perfection of Wisdom. For the sake of fully ripening sentient beings and purifying the Buddha-fields, he does not practice in the Perfection of Wisdom.
