Or the speech of patience, or the speech of diligence, or the speech of meditation, or the speech of wisdom, or the speech of the noble truths, or the speech of arising, he teaches the Dharma. Subhuti, thus, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he should actualize the superknowledges. Those who have actualized the superknowledges and are very familiar with them, whatever body they wish to take, they take that very body, and according to their wishes, they benefit sentient beings, and they are not stained by happiness or suffering. Subhuti, for example, a man created by the Tathagata, although he does all kinds of defilements, he is not stained by happiness or suffering. Subhuti, likewise, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, abiding in the Perfection of Wisdom, plays with superknowledges, and in the ten directions, in realms as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, he teaches the Dharma according to his wishes, but he is not robbed by happiness or suffering. Subhuti, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he should cherish with superknowledges in such a way that the Buddha-fields will be purified and sentient beings will be matured. Subhuti, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who has not purified the Buddha-fields and has not matured sentient beings cannot actualize the Unsurpassed Perfect Enlightenment. Subhuti, why is that? A Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who does not possess the limbs of the path does not have the Unsurpassed Perfect Enlightenment. Subhuti asked: World Honored One, what are the limbs of the path by which a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva will perfect the limbs of the path and actualize the Unsurpassed Perfect Enlightenment? The World Honored One said: Subhuti, all virtuous Dharmas are the Bodhicitta.

What are the branches of the path of a great courageous being? I beseech: O Bhagavan, by which branch of the path, one can manifestly and perfectly awaken to unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, becoming a branch of the path, what are those virtuous dharmas? The Bhagavan spoke: From the moment of generating the first thought of enlightenment, even when practicing the perfection of generosity, one does not cling to it, and when completely abandoning it, because its nature is emptiness, this is generosity. One should completely abandon this. I should practice generosity. Not clinging to these three, that is, by the perfection of generosity, I can also liberate myself from samsara, and others can also be liberated, this is a virtuous dharma of the branch of the path. From the moment of generating the first thought of enlightenment, even when practicing the perfection of ethical discipline, one does not cling to it, and when guarding ethical discipline, because its nature is emptiness, this is ethical discipline. I should guard ethical discipline. I guard ethical discipline for this purpose. Not clinging to these three, that is, by the perfection of ethical discipline, I can also from samsara be liberated, and others can also be liberated, this is a virtuous dharma of the branch of the path. From the moment of generating the first thought of enlightenment, now practicing the perfection of patience, one does not cling to it, and when cultivating patience, because its nature is emptiness, this is patience. I should cultivate patience. I should cultivate patience for this purpose. Not clinging to these three, that is, by the perfection of patience, I can also liberate myself from samsara, and others can also be liberated, this is a virtuous dharma of the branch of the path.

Liberating from actions. Furthermore, liberation is a virtuous dharma, a branch of the path. From the initial generation of the mind, taking hold, even while practicing the virtuous dharma, the perfection of meditation, one does not conceptualize it. When one is absorbed in meditation, because its nature is emptiness, this is meditation. I will be absorbed in meditation through meditation. For this purpose, I will be absorbed in meditation. One does not conceptualize these three. Through the perfection of meditation, I too will be liberated from samsara. Furthermore, liberation is a virtuous dharma, a branch of the path.
