One should not discriminate that the Tathagata is an Arhat, a Fully Enlightened One. Subhuti, thus the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abides in the Perfection of Dhyana and gathers beings completely through the Perfection of Wisdom. Subhuti, how does the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practice the Perfection of Wisdom and gather beings completely through the Perfection of Giving? Subhuti, here, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abides in the Perfection of Wisdom and gives completely to beings. Having given completely, he says: "O sons of good family, do not grasp this giving with grasping. Grasping with grasping of giving, by whatever body manifests, one will experience much suffering; such is the manifestation of the body. O sons of good family, in this, in the ultimate sense, there is neither giving, nor fruit of giving, nor giver, nor receiver, because all those dharmas are empty of inherent existence. The dharma that is empty of inherent existence has no grasping, because emptiness of inherent existence is ungraspable," thus discriminating and accordingly teaching. Subhuti, thus the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, and although he gives completely to beings, he does not think of giving, does not think of a giver, does not think of a receiver. This is because the Perfection of Wisdom is the Perfection of Non-thought. Because he does not contemplate all those three dharmas, he leads beings to the fruit of Stream-entry, leads them to the fruit of Once-returning, leads them to the fruit of Non-returning, leads them to Arhatship, leads them to Solitary Enlightenment, leads them to Unsurpassed Perfect Enlightenment. Subhuti, thus the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, and through the Perfection of Giving, he matures beings completely, and he himself also gives completely.

Furthermore, one should properly encourage giving. The merits of giving should be recounted. For any other sentient beings who completely give, one should also recount their merits and treat them happily with harmony. Thus, because the Bodhisattva Mahasattva gives such great generosity, they are born with equal status to great and noble royal families. They are born with equal status to great and noble Brahmin castes. They are born with equal status to great and noble householder castes. They become kings of the realm. They obtain the kingdom of a Chakravartin. Even in those situations, they completely gather sentient beings with the four objects of gathering. What are the four? They are giving, kind speech, beneficial action, and acting in accordance with their interests. Thus, those sentient beings who are completely gathered by giving are gradually established in morality. They are established in patience. They are established in diligence. They are established in meditation. They are established in wisdom. They are established in the four dhyanas. They are established in the four immeasurables. They are established in the four formless absorptions. They are established in the four mindfulnesses. They are established in the four right abandonments. They are established in the four legs of miraculous power. They are established in the five faculties. They are established in the five powers. They are established in the seven branches of enlightenment. They are established in the eightfold noble path. They are established in the four noble truths. They are established in the eight liberations. They are established in the nine successive abidings. They are established in the three doors of liberation: emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness. They are established in the various superknowledges. They are established in the various samadhis. They are established in the various dharani doors. They cause them to enter correctly and without fault. They cause them to obtain the fruit of stream-entry. They cause them to obtain the fruit of once-returner. They cause them to obtain the fruit of non-returner. They cause them to obtain the state of Arhat. They cause them to obtain Pratyekabuddhahood. They also cause them to obtain unsurpassed perfect enlightenment.

urges to be pure. O noble ones, it is not difficult to attain the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, except for those who are confused by a mind deluded by perversion and cannot understand it. Whatever dharma beings cling to, such a dharma does not exist by its very nature. Therefore, cut off all inverted clinging, and please liberate us from samsara! Furthermore, please liberate us! In this way, you will also bring great benefit to us, and you will also attain great meaning, so you should urge in this way. Subhuti, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva should practice the Prajnaparamita in this way. When practicing in this way, it is essential to maintain from the initial generation of the mind, never falling into the lower realms, and never becoming a Chakravartin king. One should practice in this way. Why is that? Because as the seed is, so is the fruit. Even if many beggars come before the Chakravartin king, the Chakravartin king will think like this: I have not accepted the Chakravartin king for my own benefit, but for the benefit of sentient beings. He will say this: Whatever you want, I will give it to you. These are not mine, but yours. I do not cherish even my inner body, let alone external things. Otherwise, I accept samsara for the benefit of sentient beings. I do not seek samsara for my own benefit. He perfects great compassion with loving-kindness, and benefits sentient beings with great compassion, but does not cling to any accomplished sentient beings. Otherwise, he uses concepts, names, and terms, and he knows that this usage is like an echo and cannot be used. Subhuti, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abides in the Prajnaparamita, and should practice the Dana Paramita in this way. When practicing, it is essential to give even one's own flesh
