, great loving-kindness? Great compassion? The Buddha's unshared dharmas? The fruit of stream-entry? The fruit of once-returning? The fruit of non-returning? An arhat? Solitary enlightenment? Knowing the aspects of the path? Does the Dharma of unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment exist? Discern and then indicate accordingly. Thus, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he does not focus on any dharma that appears to be clung to. Because there is no clinging to it, he does not truly see the arising, cessation, complete defilement, or complete purification of any dharma. Furthermore, because he does not truly see, he does not think, "This sentient being is a hell-being, this is a place of animal birth, this is the realm of Yama, this belongs to the class of Asuras, this is a god, this is a human, this is virtuous, this is immoral, this is a stream-enterer, this is a once-returner, this is a non-returner, this is an Arhat, this is a Pratyekabuddha, this is a Bodhisattva, this is a Tathagata, an Arhat, a perfectly enlightened Buddha." Subhuti, thus a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abides in the Perfection of Diligence and gathers sentient beings through the Perfection of Wisdom. Subhuti, how does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practice the Perfection of Dhyana and unite sentient beings with the Perfection of Giving? Subhuti, here, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abides in the Perfection of Dhyana and gives everything to sentient beings. After giving everything, he says, "Noble sons, do not cling to giving. Clinging to giving will produce clinging, and any body that manifestly exists will experience much suffering, such is the manifest existence of the body. Noble sons, in this meaning

If it does not exist, there is no giving, no fruit of giving, no giver, and no receiver. Because all these dharmas are empty of inherent existence. The dharma that is empty of inherent existence is not to be grasped, because emptiness of inherent existence is not to be taken. Thus he chooses and shows accordingly. Subhuti, thus the Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the perfection of meditation, and although he gives completely to sentient beings, he does not cling to giving, he does not cling to the giver, he does not cling to the receiver. For example, this perfection of giving is the perfection of non-clinging. Because he does not cling to all these three dharmas, he unites sentient beings with the fruit of stream-entry. He unites them with the fruit of once-returning. He unites them with the fruit of non-returning. He unites them with the state of Arhat. He unites them with the self-awakening. He unites them with the unsurpassed perfect and complete awakening. Subhuti, thus the Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the perfection of meditation, and with the perfection of giving he completely matures sentient beings, and he himself gives completely. He also truly encourages others to give. He speaks of the merits of giving. For any other sentient beings who give completely, he also speaks of their merits and rejoices in accordance. Thus, that Bodhisattva Mahasattva, by giving such great gifts, is born sharing the fortune with the great and noble royal families. He is born sharing the fortune with the great and noble Brahmin families. He is born sharing the fortune with the great and noble householder families. He becomes the king of the region. He obtains the kingdom of the wheel-turning king. Even then, he completely gathers sentient beings with the four means of gathering. What are the four? They are giving, kind speech, beneficial action, and consistent action. Thus, those sentient beings who are completely gathered by giving are also gradually established in discipline. They are established in patience. They are established in diligence.
