They cause them to be completely matured. Even that very giving is given as the source of giving. Furthermore, they truly exhort giving, and speak of the merits of giving. Whatever other sentient beings completely give, they also speak of their merits, and rejoice in harmony. Thus, that Bodhisattva, the great being, also by giving such great giving, is born with the same fortune as the great and noble royal family. They are born with the same fortune as the great and noble Brahmin caste. They are born with the same fortune as the great and noble householder caste. They will become kings of the region. They will obtain the kingdom of the wheel-turning king. In those, they also completely gather sentient beings with the four objects of gathering. What are the four? Namely, giving, kind speech, beneficial action, and acting in accordance with the meaning. Thus, those sentient beings who are completely gathered by giving are also gradually established in morality, established in listening, established in diligence, established in samadhi, established in wisdom, established in the four dhyanas, established in the four immeasurables, established in the four formless absorptions, established in the four mindfulnesses, established in the four right abandonments, established in the four legs of miraculous power, established in the five faculties, established in the five powers, established in the seven branches of enlightenment, established in the eightfold noble path, established in the four noble truths, established in the eight liberations, established in the nine successive abidings, established in the three doors of liberation: emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness, established in the five superknowledges, established in the various samadhis, established in the dharani doors, they cause them to enter correctly and without error, they cause them to obtain the fruit of stream-entry, they cause them to obtain the fruit of once-returner, they cause them to obtain the fruit of non-returner, they cause them to obtain the state of Arhat.

to do. To attain self-enlightenment. To truly inspire towards the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. O noble ones, it is not difficult to fully awaken to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. Except for those whose minds are deluded by perversion and have not understood it, there is no such thing as any dharma to which sentient beings are attached that exists by its very nature. Therefore, may all clinging to perversion be severed! May we also be liberated from samsara! May we be liberated again! Thus, you will also greatly benefit us. Furthermore, you will attain great benefit. Thus, he truly inspires. Subhuti, thus a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva should practice the perfection of diligence. When practicing in this way, it is essential to maintain close attention from the moment of generating the initial thought. By acting in this way, one will never fall into the lower realms, nor will one ever become a wheel-turning monarch. Why is that? Just as the seed is, so the fruit will arise. Even if many beggars come before the wheel-turning monarch, the wheel-turning monarch thinks thus: I have not taken the position of the wheel-turning monarch for the sake of others, but only for the benefit and happiness of sentient beings. Then he says: Whatever you desire, take it. This is not mine, but yours. I do not even cherish my inner body, let alone external things? Otherwise, I take samsara for the benefit of sentient beings, but I do not cling to samsara. Thus, he perfects great compassion with loving-kindness, and with great compassion he benefits sentient beings, but he does not see any sentient being who has been accomplished. Otherwise, he applies concepts, names, and terms, but he also knows that what is applied is like a sound and an image, and there is nothing real to be applied. Subhuti, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abides in the perfection of diligence, the perfection of giving.

One should practice in that way when going to the other shore. When practicing, one must ensure that even my flesh is completely given to sentient beings. Needless to say, those external resources that can completely liberate sentient beings from samsara should be practiced in that way. Asked: What are those resources? The Blessed One said: The perfection of generosity is a resource. The perfection of discipline is a resource. The perfection of patience is a resource. The perfection of diligence is a resource.
