Moreover, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva thus establishes those beings in patience, and skillfully establishes them in patience. Gradually, he completely liberates them from suffering by means of the three vehicles. Subhuti, thus the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abides in the perfection of morality, and completely gathers beings by means of the perfection of patience. Subhuti, how does the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practice the perfection of morality, and cause beings to practice the perfection of diligence? Subhuti, here, when the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva sees lazy beings with little diligence, he says, 'Why are you lazy?' If they say, 'Because we do not have the necessary conditions.' Then, does the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practice the perfection of morality? He says to those beings, 'O gentlemen, I provide the conditions for giving, the conditions for morality, the conditions for patience, and any other means by which diligence can be initiated. Initiate diligence!' Then, those beings, relying on the resources of that Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, initiate diligence of body or mind. They perfect all virtuous dharmas through the diligence of body and mind, and through those virtuous dharmas, they cultivate the noble, undefiled dharmas. By cultivating those dharmas, they attain the fruit of stream-entry, attain the fruit of once-returner, attain the fruit of non-returner, attain the state of Arhat, attain Pratyekabuddhahood, and awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment. Thus, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva himself initiates diligence, also exhorts others to initiate diligence, and proclaims the virtues of diligence. For other beings who initiate diligence, he also proclaims their virtues, and rejoices with them in agreement. Thus, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva thus establishes those beings in diligence.

And diligently, diligently abide in it. Gradually liberate completely from suffering by means of the three vehicles. Subhuti, thus the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abides in the perfection of morality, and gathers beings completely by means of the perfection of diligence. The Hundred Thousand Verses of the Perfection of Wisdom, Volume Sixteen. Subhuti, if the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the perfection of morality, how does he lead beings to practice the perfection of meditation? Subhuti, here, when the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva sees beings whose minds are distracted, he says to them: 'Beings, why do you not practice meditation?' If they say, 'Because we do not have the conditions,' then the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva says to those beings: 'O beings, I will create for you those conditions that will prevent you from having discriminating thoughts about internal and external phenomena.' Then, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva thinks: 'I should create conditions for these beings.' Thus, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva creates for those beings those conditions that prevent them from having discriminating thoughts about internal and external phenomena. Therefore, their discriminating thoughts cease, and they enter the first dhyana, enter the second dhyana, enter the third dhyana, enter the fourth dhyana, enter the loving-kindness meditation, enter the compassion meditation, enter the joy meditation, enter the equanimity meditation, enter the four formless absorptions. Having tamed their minds with these dhyanas, immeasurables, and formless absorptions, they cultivate the four mindfulnesses, cultivate the four right abandonments, cultivate the four legs of magical power, cultivate the five faculties, cultivate the five powers, cultivate the seven branches of enlightenment, cultivate the eightfold noble path, and the doors of liberation.
