To engage in samadhi. To engage in wisdom, and what causes speech that is superior to that to arise? What can cause the fruit of stream-entry to be attained, the fruit of once-returner to be attained, the fruit of non-returner to be attained, and the state of an arhat to be attained, self-enlightenment to be attained, knowledge of the aspects of the path itself to be attained, and the state of all-knowing itself to be attained? If such speech is made, how can it be without an object of focus? The Blessed One said: Sharadvatiputra, a bodhisattva mahasattva who engages in the perfection of wisdom has no object of focus whatsoever. Why is that? It is because: When that bodhisattva mahasattva engages in the perfection of wisdom, he does not focus on any sentient being, except for engaging in conventional designations. Sharadvatiputra, for that bodhisattva mahasattva, like this, abiding in the conventional truth and the ultimate truth, the two truths, he teaches the Dharma to sentient beings, but Sharadvatiputra, in the two truths, he does not focus on sentient beings, nor is there any designation of sentient beings. However, when a bodhisattva mahasattva skillfully engages in the perfection of wisdom, if he teaches the Dharma to sentient beings, then he does not focus on those sentient beings as self in this very life, what need is there to mention what is to be attained and by what it is to be attained? Sharadvatiputra, in this way, when a bodhisattva mahasattva engages in the perfection of wisdom, with skillful means, he teaches the Dharma to sentient beings. Asked: Blessed One, in this way, a bodhisattva mahasattva does not focus on any dharma as either one or different, and seeking such armor, and with seeking that armor, it is not in the desire realm, nor is it in the form realm, nor is it in the formless realm, nor is it in the conditioned realm, nor is it in the unconditioned realm, and sentient beings are also liberated from the three realms, and he does not focus on sentient beings, nor does he focus on the designation of sentient beings, which is great joy.

And has the ability. Because there is no establishment as sentient beings, there is no bondage and liberation of sentient beings. Because there is no bondage and liberation of sentient beings, there is no complete affliction and complete purification. Because there is no complete affliction and complete purification, the various branches of the path cannot be seen as different. Because there are no different branches of the path, there is no karma and affliction. If karma and affliction exist, then who will bear the mature result? And how can there be such a mature result that causes sentient beings to exist in the cycle of the five realms? The Blessed One said: Sharadvatiputra, it is so, it is so. Just as it is said, if a sentient being existed before and no longer exists later, then, is it like something that existed before and then disappeared? The cycle of the five realms existed before and then disappeared. The Tathagata and the Bodhisattva are also like this. Sharadvatiputra, whether the Tathagatas appear or not, the suchness of these dharmas, the non-inverted suchness, the non-different suchness, the dharma nature, the dharma realm, the abiding nature of the dharma, the faultless nature of the dharma, the real edge, the inconceivable realm, all abide as such. There is no self, no sentient being, no life, no goer, no nourisher, no person, no individual, no powerful one, no lord of power, no maker, no receiver, no knower, no seer. Since this is the case, where is form? Where is feeling? Where is perception? Where is formation? Where is consciousness? Where is the eye? Where is the ear? Where is the nose? Where is the tongue? Where is the body? Where is the mind? Where is form? Where is sound? Where is smell? Where is taste? Where is touch? Where is dharma? Where is eye consciousness? Where is ear consciousness? Where is nose consciousness? Where is tongue consciousness? Where is body consciousness?

Where is it? Where is the mental consciousness? Where is the contact arising from the meeting of the eye? Where is the contact arising from the meeting of the ear? Where is the contact arising from the meeting of the nose? Where is the contact arising from the meeting of the tongue? Where is the contact arising from the meeting of the body? Where is the contact arising from the meeting of the mind? Where is the feeling arising from the contact of the eye? Where is the feeling arising from the contact of the ear? Where is the feeling arising from the contact of the nose? Where is the feeling arising from the contact of the tongue? Where is the feeling arising from the contact of the body? Where is the feeling arising from the contact of the mind? Where is the earth element? Where is the water element? Where is the fire element? Where is the wind element? Where is the space element? Where is the consciousness element? Where is ignorance? Where is action? Where is consciousness? Where is name and form? Where are the six sense sources? Where is contact? Where is feeling? Where is craving? Where is grasping? Where is existence? Where is birth? Where is old age and death? Where are the laws of dependent origination? If these laws do not exist, then from where can beings be liberated from the cycle of the five realms? Where can such a thing be found? Sharadvatiputra, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, having heard from the Buddhas, the Bhagavad-ones of the past, of such dharmas that are empty of inherent nature, manifests and enters into the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment for the sake of sentient beings. Apart from the deluded and ignorant ordinary beings, there is no sentient being or dharma to be fixated upon. Sharadvatiputra, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, thus wears the great armor. Having donned this armor, one does not turn back from the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment. I will not fail to attain the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment; without a doubt, I will attain the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Thus.
