Whether a renunciate, a Brahmin, a god, a demon, Brahma, or anyone else, they cannot refute me according to the Dharma; I shall thoroughly refute them. These four are the absence of fear. What are the four kinds of individual perfect knowledge of the Thus-Gone One? They are: individual perfect knowledge of meaning, individual perfect knowledge of Dharma, individual perfect knowledge of definitive terms, and individual perfect knowledge of eloquence. What are these? They are: focusing on meaning, focusing on Dharma, focusing on definitive terms, and focusing on eloquence. Subhuti, what are the three unguardednesses of the Thus-Gone One? The Thus-Gone One possesses completely pure bodily conduct. Because the Thus-Gone One does not have impure bodily conduct, the Thus-Gone One does not have the thought of concealing anything, thinking that it will be known by others. This is the first unguardedness. The Thus-Gone One possesses completely pure speech conduct. Because the Thus-Gone One does not have impure speech conduct, the Thus-Gone One does not have the thought of concealing anything, thinking that it will be known by others. This is the second unguardedness. The Thus-Gone One possesses completely pure mental conduct. Because the Thus-Gone One does not have impure mental conduct, the Thus-Gone One does not have the thought of concealing anything, thinking that it will be known by others. This is the third unguardedness. Then, what are the three mindfulnesses of the Thus-Gone One? When the Thus-Gone One teaches the Dharma, some listen attentively, listen with reverence, remember with obedience, and diligently engage in the Dharma and matters related to the Dharma. However, this does not make the Thus-Gone One happy, does not make the Thus-Gone One feel at ease, and does not make the Thus-Gone One's mind waver. This is the first mindfulness. Some do not listen attentively, do not listen with reverence, do not remember with obedience, and do not diligently engage in the Dharma and matters related to the Dharma. However, this does not make the Thus-Gone One angry, does not make the Thus-Gone One displeased, and does not make the Thus-Gone One unhappy. This is the second mindfulness.

O! Some listen attentively and respectfully, with minds close to obeying the teachings, diligently striving in the Dharma and the Dharma they seek. Some do not listen attentively or respectfully, their minds not close to obeying the teachings, and although they do not diligently strive in the Dharma and the Dharma they seek, this does not cause the Tathagata to be pleased or angry, because in all times, possessing wisdom and knowledge, acting with equanimity, this is the third wisdom of closely abiding. Then, what is the non-retrogressive nature of the Tathagata? It is that the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, in order to teach meaningful Dharma, act for the benefit of all sentient beings without exceeding the time, this is called the non-retrogressive nature. Then, what is the complete abandonment of the obscuration of habits by the Tathagata? The Shravakas and all Pratyekabuddhas, although they have abandoned afflictions, they have changes in their bodies, but the Tathagata does not have such a thing, this is called the complete abandonment of the obscuration of habits. Then, what is the great compassion of the Tathagata? The great compassion that the Tathagata possesses is that, approaching the language of the world, in order to see the roots of virtue, at all times, three times during the day and three times during the night, he observes the world, that is to say, in reality, the great compassion of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, is the constant observation of how to bring limitless sentient beings to maturity, this is called great compassion. Subhuti, what are the eighteen unshared Dharmas of the Buddha of the Tathagata? The Tathagata has no confusion, no clamor, no forgetfulness, no various thoughts, no non-absorption, no unexamined abandonment, no completely decayed cultivation, no completely decayed diligence, no completely decayed wisdom, no completely decayed concentration, no completely decayed wisdom, no completely decayed liberation, no completely decayed liberation wisdom vision, all bodily activities are preceded by wisdom.
