Even when entering into meditative absorption, one does not cling to the fruit of meditative absorption, nor does one experience the fruit of meditative absorption. On the other hand, one enters into meditative absorption for the sake of completely liberating all sentient beings from suffering. Even when cultivating wisdom, one does not cling to the fruit of wisdom, nor does one experience the fruit of wisdom. On the other hand, one cultivates wisdom for the sake of completely liberating all sentient beings from suffering. Even when cultivating defiled and undefiled dharmas, one does not cling to the fruit of defiled and undefiled dharmas, nor does one experience the fruit of defiled and undefiled dharmas. On the other hand, one cultivates defiled and undefiled dharmas for the sake of completely liberating all sentient beings from suffering. Even when cultivating mundane and supramundane dharmas, one does not cling to the fruit of mundane and supramundane dharmas, nor does one experience the fruit of mundane and supramundane dharmas. On the other hand, one cultivates mundane and supramundane dharmas for the sake of completely liberating all sentient beings from suffering. One cultivates conditioned and unconditioned dharmas. One does not cling to the fruit of conditioned and unconditioned dharmas, nor does one experience the fruit of conditioned and unconditioned dharmas. On the other hand, one cultivates conditioned and unconditioned dharmas for the sake of completely liberating all sentient beings from suffering. Subhuti, similarly, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva also practices the perfection of generosity, the perfection of ethics, the perfection of patience, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of meditative absorption, and the perfection of wisdom, applying them to all dharmas, but does not abide in or cling to any dharma. Why is that? Because he thoroughly understands the nature of dharmas.
