The state of Arhatship does not abide in any place. Solitary enlightenment does not abide in any place. Knowledge of the aspects of the path does not abide in any place. All-knowingness does not abide in any place. In this way, by not abiding, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva should fully awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Subhuti, for example, if a person wants to eat a mango or a jackfruit, he should plant a mango tree or a jackfruit tree. After planting, he should water it regularly and remove any harm. Due to the power of these assembled causes and conditions, eventually the mango or jackfruit will grow, and then he can eat the mango or jackfruit. Subhuti, similarly, if a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva wants to fully awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, he should also train in the six perfections, and take hold of sentient beings through generosity, take hold of the ground of morality, and take hold through patience.

What should be grasped? It should be grasped by diligence. It should be grasped by meditation. It should be grasped by wisdom. Sentient beings should be completely liberated from samsara. Subhuti, therefore, if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva wishes not to rely on others, wishes to purify the Buddha-field completely, wishes to abide in the essence of enlightenment, and wishes to turn the wheel of Dharma, they should train in the six perfections. He asked: "Bhagavan, does one train in the Perfection of Wisdom by means of the Perfection of Wisdom?" The Bhagavan replied: "Subhuti, one should say that one trains in the Perfection of Wisdom by means of the Perfection of Wisdom. If one wishes to attain mastery over all dharmas, one should say that one trains in the Perfection of Wisdom. Why is that? Because that which attains the ground of mastery over all dharmas is the Perfection of Wisdom. This Perfection of Wisdom is the gate of all dharmas. For example, the great ocean is the gate of all rivers. Likewise, the Perfection of Wisdom is also the gate of all dharmas. Individuals who are of the Hearer Vehicle, or of the Solitary Buddha Vehicle, or of the Bodhisattva Vehicle, should train in this very Perfection of Wisdom. Subhuti, therefore, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva should train in the Perfection of Generosity. They should train in the Perfection of Discipline. They should train in the Perfection of Patience. They should train in the Perfection of Diligence. They should train in the Perfection of Meditation. They should train in the Perfection of Wisdom. They should train in inner emptiness. They should train in outer emptiness. They should train in inner-outer emptiness. They should train in emptiness-emptiness. They should train in great emptiness. They should train in ultimate emptiness. They should train in conditioned emptiness. They should train in unconditioned emptiness.
