Hold it! Make it understandable! Recite it! Write it down! Properly apply your mind! Be diligent in the Prajnaparamita as it is taught! If you instruct in this way, then his merit will greatly increase. What is the reason for that? Kausika, because from this Prajnaparamita, there will be those who enter the stream. Kausika, let alone the sentient beings of Jambudvipa. Kausika, the sentient beings of the four great continents, of the world realm, however many there are, those, if a certain son or daughter of good family, places them in the fruit of entering the stream. Kausika, what do you think? Will the merit of that son or daughter of good family greatly increase because of that? They replied: Blessed One, many. Sugata, many. The Blessed One said: Kausika, even more than that, if a son or daughter of good family, with the Prajnaparamita that has meaning and letters, extensively tells it to others, that is, teaches, explains, analyzes, clarifies, and truly instructs, and says this: Come, son of good family, you should hold the Prajnaparamita! Make it understandable! Recite it! Write it down! Properly apply your mind! Be diligent in the Prajnaparamita as it is taught! If you instruct in this way, then his merit will greatly increase. What is the reason for that? Kausika, because from this Prajnaparamita, there will be those who enter the stream. extensively expounds, teaches, explains, elucidates, distinguishes, clarifies, and accurately instructs, saying, 'Son of good family, uphold the Perfection of Wisdom, fully comprehend it, master it, become skilled in it, and attend to it properly. Be diligent and unremitting in the Perfection of Wisdom as it has been taught.' If they exhort in this way, their merit will greatly increase. Why is that? Because, Kausika, those who attain the fruit of Stream-enterer arise from this Perfection of Wisdom. Kausika, let alone placing beings who fill a thousand worlds in the fruit of Stream-enterer, if a son or daughter of good family were to place beings of two thousand intermediate worlds in the fruit of Stream-enterer, Kausika, what do you think? Would the merit of that son or daughter of good family greatly increase thereby? They replied, 'Bhagavan, yes, greatly.' 'Sugata, yes, greatly.' The Bhagavan said, 'Kausika, even more so, any son or daughter of good family who, with meaning and letters complete, extensively expounds and teaches this Perfection of Wisdom to others, explains and elucidates, distinguishes and clarifies, and accurately instructs, saying, 'Son of good family, uphold the Perfection of Wisdom, fully comprehend it, master it, become skilled in it, and attend to it properly. Be diligent and unremitting in the Perfection of Wisdom as it has been taught.' If they exhort in this way, their merit will greatly increase. Why is that? Because, Kausika, those who attain the fruit of Stream-enterer arise from this Perfection of Wisdom.
