It is merely wishing for name to arise. Subhuti, whoever wishes for the arising of dharmas without characteristics, that is merely wishing for the arising of signs. Subhuti, whoever wishes for the arising of dharmas without characteristics, that is merely wishing for the arising of symbols. Subhuti, whoever wishes for the arising of dharmas without characteristics, that is merely wishing for the arising of language. Subhuti, whoever wishes for the arising of dharmas without characteristics, that is merely wishing for the arising of designations. Why is that? Subhuti, the emptiness of name does not arise from the three realms. It does not abide in the all-knowingness. The emptiness of sign does not arise from the three realms. It does not abide in the all-knowingness. The emptiness of symbol does not arise from the three realms. It does not abide in the all-knowingness. The emptiness of language does not arise from the three realms. It does not abide in the all-knowingness. The emptiness of designation does not arise from the three realms. It does not abide in the all-knowingness. Subhuti, why is that? Thus, the emptiness of name is empty by the very nature of the emptiness of name. The emptiness of sign is empty by the very nature of the emptiness of sign. The emptiness of symbol is empty by the very nature of the emptiness of symbol. The emptiness of language is empty by the very nature of the emptiness of language. The emptiness of designation is empty by the very nature of the emptiness of designation.

It is merely assumed to be so. Why is that? Subhuti, the nature of non-arising does not arise from the three realms. Nor does it abide in the state of all-knowingness. The nature of non-cessation does not arise from the three realms. Nor does it abide in the state of all-knowingness. The nature of non-universal defilement does not arise from the three realms. Nor does it abide in the state of all-knowingness. The nature of non-purification does not arise from the three realms. Nor does it abide in the state of all-knowingness. The nature of non-manifestation does not arise from the three realms. Nor does it abide in the state of all-knowingness. Subhuti, why is that? Thus, non-arising is empty by the nature of non-arising. Non-cessation is empty by the nature of non-cessation. Non-universal defilement is empty by the nature of non-universal defilement. Non-purification is empty by the nature of non-purification. Non-manifestation is empty by the nature of non-manifestation. Subhuti, in this way, by this manner, it should be understood that the Great Vehicle arises from the three realms and abides in the state of all-knowingness, and that abode is immovable. Furthermore, Subhuti, what you said, "Where will the Great Vehicle abide?" is not established. Why is that? Thus, all phenomena do not abide because there is no place to be designated. Subhuti, thus, the Great Vehicle abides in the manner of non-abiding. Subhuti, for example, the realm of phenomena is neither abiding nor non-abiding. Subhuti, likewise, the Great Vehicle is neither abiding nor non-abiding. Subhuti, for example, Suchness is neither abiding nor non-abiding. Subhuti, likewise, the Great Vehicle is neither abiding nor non-abiding.

It is like this. For example, the limit of reality is neither abiding nor non-abiding. Subhuti, likewise, the Great Vehicle is also neither abiding nor non-abiding. Subhuti, it is like this. For example, the realm of the inconceivable is neither abiding nor non-abiding. Subhuti, likewise, the Great Vehicle is also neither abiding nor non-abiding. Why is that? Subhuti, in the nature of the realm of Dharma, there is neither abiding nor non-abiding. In the nature of Suchness, there is neither abiding nor non-abiding. In the nature of the limit of reality, there is neither abiding nor non-abiding. In the nature of the realm of the inconceivable, there is neither abiding nor non-abiding. Why is that? Subhuti, it is because the realm of Dharma is empty by the nature of the realm of Dharma. Suchness is empty by the nature of Suchness. The limit of reality is empty by the nature of the limit of reality. The realm of the inconceivable is empty by the nature of the realm of the inconceivable. Subhuti, it is like this. For example, the realm of space is neither abiding nor non-abiding. Subhuti, likewise, the Great Vehicle is also neither abiding nor non-abiding. Subhuti, it is like this. For example, the realm of the exhaustion of desire is neither abiding nor non-abiding. Subhuti, likewise, the Great Vehicle is also neither abiding nor non-abiding. Subhuti, it is like this. For example, the realm of perfect purity is neither abiding nor non-abiding. Subhuti, likewise, the Great Vehicle is also neither abiding nor non-abiding. Subhuti, it is like this. For example, the realm of freedom from desire is neither abiding nor non-abiding. Subhuti, likewise, the Great Vehicle is also neither abiding nor non-abiding. Subhuti, it is like this. For example, the realm of cessation is neither abiding nor non-abiding. Subhuti, likewise, the Great Vehicle is also neither abiding nor non-abiding.
