Those places are also visualized, and those powers of the Tathagata are also made into arrogance. When he practices the Perfection of Wisdom, without attending with a mind endowed with all-knowingness, he meditates on the fearlessnesses. In the manner of visualization, he also visualizes those fearlessnesses, and with those fearlessnesses, he also makes arrogance. When he practices the Perfection of Wisdom, without attending with a mind endowed with all-knowingness, he meditates on the individual correct knowledges. In the manner of visualization, he also visualizes those individual correct knowledges, and with those individual correct knowledges, he also makes arrogance. When he practices the Perfection of Wisdom, without attending with a mind endowed with all-knowingness, he meditates on great compassion. In the manner of visualization, he also visualizes that great compassion, and with that great compassion, he also makes arrogance. When he practices the Perfection of Wisdom, without attending with a mind endowed with all-knowingness, he meditates on the unmixed qualities of the Buddha. In the manner of visualization, he also visualizes those unmixed qualities of the Buddha, and with those unmixed qualities of the Buddha, he also makes arrogance. The Hundred Thousand Verses on the Perfection of Wisdom, Chapter Two. Subhuti, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, when he practices the Perfection of Wisdom, in this way, due to unskilled means, upon hearing this exposition of the Perfection of Wisdom, will he be frightened, scared, and terrified? The question is, O Bhagavan, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, being completely controlled by evil friends, upon hearing this exposition of the Perfection of Wisdom, become frightened, scared, and terrified, and fall into the hands of evil friends? The Bhagavan said: Subhuti, here, the evil friend of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva is one who makes him disinclined and obstructs him from practicing the Perfection of Wisdom. One who makes him disinclined and obstructs him from practicing the Perfection of Meditative Absorption.

Furthermore, regarding the practice of the Perfection of Diligence, it causes one to dislike and obstruct it. Regarding the practice of the Perfection of Patience, it causes one to dislike and obstruct it. Regarding the practice of the Perfection of Discipline, it causes one to dislike and obstruct it. Regarding the practice of the Perfection of Generosity, it causes one to dislike and obstruct it. These are not spoken by the Tathagata, not the Dharma, not the Vinaya; therefore, one should not study these. These sutras are self-made; therefore, these should not be listened to, not be taken, not be held, not be read, not be fully understood, not be properly contemplated. These should not be shown to others. This one who says this, Subhuti, should be known as a sinful friend of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva. Furthermore, Subhuti, a sinful friend of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva is like this: evil demons, having taken on the appearance of a Buddha, come to the Bodhisattva Mahasattva and obstruct and cause them to dislike the six perfections, saying: Son of good family, what use is it to you to cultivate the Perfection of Wisdom? What use is it to you to cultivate the Perfection of Meditation? What use is it to you to cultivate the Perfection of Diligence? What use is it to you to cultivate the Perfection of Patience? What use is it to you to cultivate the Perfection of Discipline? What use is it to you to cultivate the Perfection of Generosity? Saying this, they do not reveal the deeds of the demons, they do not reveal the faults of the demons. Subhuti, this should be known as a sinful friend of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva. Furthermore, Subhuti, evil demons, having taken on the appearance of a Buddha, go to the Bodhisattva Mahasattva and speak of sutras associated with the Hearers, verses, prophecies, stanzas, self-utterances, causal stories, such as past events, birth stories, extensive explanations, and wondrous dharmas.
