It should be known that the spiritual friend of a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva is one who, if someone says that the eye is impermanent, teaches him the Dharma in a non-attached manner, and causes all roots of virtue to enter into the Perfection of Wisdom, without allowing them to fall into the ground of a Hearer or a Solitary Buddha. If someone says that the ear is impermanent, he teaches him the Dharma in a non-attached manner, and causes all roots of virtue to enter into the All-Knowingness, without allowing them to fall into the ground of a Hearer or a Solitary Buddha. If someone says that the nose is impermanent, he teaches him the Dharma in a non-attached manner, and causes all roots of virtue to enter into the All-Knowingness, without allowing them to fall into the ground of a Hearer or a Solitary Buddha.
