Having become fully enlightened, they turn the wheel of Dharma, benefiting countless sentient beings, and completely pass into the realm of nirvana, free from all aggregates. Even after they have completely passed into nirvana, the sacred Dharma may remain for a kalpa or the remainder of a kalpa. Sharadvatiputra, in this way, Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, from the very moment they first generate the mind of enlightenment, abide in the yoga of the Perfection of Wisdom. Those Bodhisattvas, together with countless billions of Bodhisattvas, go from Buddha-field to Buddha-field to behold the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, to fully ripen sentient beings, and to purify the Buddha-fields. Sharadvatiputra, Bodhisattva Mahasattvas who practice the Perfection of Wisdom, who have attained the four dhyanas, who have attained the four immeasurables, who have attained the four formless absorptions, sport in various ways with those dhyanas, immeasurables, and formless absorptions. For example, they enter into the first dhyana. Having arisen from that first dhyana, they engage in the cessation absorption. Having arisen from the cessation absorption, they enter into the second dhyana. Having arisen from the second dhyana, they engage in the cessation absorption. Having arisen from the cessation absorption, they enter into the third dhyana. Having arisen from the third dhyana, they engage in the cessation absorption. Having arisen from the cessation absorption, they enter into the fourth dhyana. Having arisen from the fourth dhyana, they engage in the cessation absorption. Having arisen from the cessation absorption, they enter into the sphere of infinite space. Having arisen from the sphere of infinite space, they engage in the cessation absorption. Having arisen from the cessation absorption, they enter into the sphere of infinite consciousness. Having arisen from the sphere of infinite consciousness, they engage in the cessation absorption. Having arisen from the cessation absorption, they enter into the sphere of nothingness.

enters the sphere of nothingness. Having arisen from the sphere of nothingness, one engages in the cessation attainment. Having arisen from the cessation attainment, one enters the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception. Having arisen from the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception, one engages in the cessation attainment. Son of Śāradvatī, thus, bodhisattvas, great beings, who practice the Perfection of Wisdom and possess skillful means, repeatedly focus on and engage in these dhyānas, immeasurables, samādhis, and attainments. Son of Śāradvatī, in this way, bodhisattvas, great beings, having attained the four mindfulnesses, having attained the four complete abandonments, having attained the four legs of miraculous power, having attained the five faculties, having attained the five powers, having attained the seven branches of enlightenment, having attained the noble eightfold path, having attained the four noble truths, having attained the four dhyānas, having attained the immeasurables, having attained the formless attainments, having attained the eight liberations, having attained the nine sequential abidings, having attained emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness, having attained the superknowledges, having attained the samādhis, having attained the doors of dhāraṇī, having attained the ten powers of the Tathāgata, having attained the four fearlessnesses, having attained the four analytical understandings, having attained the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha, even having attained these three doors of liberation, they do not attain the fruit of stream-entry, they do not attain the fruit of once-returner, they do not attain the fruit of non-returner, they do not attain the state of an arhat, they do not attain solitary enlightenment. Rather, by practicing the Perfection of Wisdom and being completely sustained by skillful means, they completely show the noble eightfold path to sentient beings, so that those sentient beings thereby attain the fruit of stream-entry, attain the fruit of once-returner, attain the fruit of non-returner, attain the state of an arhat, and attain solitary enlightenment.

There are also those, Sharadvatiputra, whose wisdom is to attain the fruit of the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, which is the patience of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas. Sharadvatiputra, those Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas who thus practice the Prajnaparamita in such a way, should be known as irreversible. Sharadvatiputra, there are also such Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas who abide in the six perfections and fully enjoy the abode of Tushita.
