Are blazing. Desires are utterly blameworthy. Desires are supplicated. Desires are enemies. Desires are refuting. Desires are like a grass lamp. Desires are like the fruit of the kimpa tree. Desires are like the edge of a sword. Desires are like a pile of firewood. Desires are like poisonous leaves. Desires are like saliva. Desires are like impure filth. Thus, Sharadvatiputra, although Bodhisattva Mahasattvas fully understand desires, in order to fully ripen beings who are not skillful, they should be disgusted with the five objects of desire, and in order to be separated from the five objects of desire, they closely show the five objects of desire. They will not be intoxicated by them, nor will they be negligent, nor will they commit sinful deeds because of desire or because of the place of desire. Having said this, the venerable Sharadvatiputra asked the Blessed One as follows: Blessed One, how should a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practice the Perfection of Wisdom? The Blessed One said: Sharadvatiputra, here, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he does not truly see the Bodhisattva, nor does he truly see the name of the Bodhisattva, nor does he truly see the conduct of the Bodhisattva, nor does he truly see the Perfection of Wisdom, nor does he truly see the name of the Perfection of Wisdom, nor does he truly see practice, nor does he truly see non-practice, nor does he truly see form, nor does he truly see feeling, nor does he truly see perception, nor does he truly see formation, nor does he truly see consciousness. Why is that? Sharadvatiputra, it is because the Bodhisattva is also the self of the Bodhisattva.

Emptiness by nature. The name of a Bodhisattva is also empty by the name of a Bodhisattva. Why is that? Because its nature is such. That is, like this. Because of emptiness, form is not empty. Apart from form, there is no emptiness. Form itself is emptiness. Emptiness is also form. Because of emptiness, feeling is not empty. Apart from feeling, there is no emptiness. Feeling itself is emptiness. Emptiness is also feeling. Because of emptiness, perception is not empty. Apart from perception, there is no emptiness. Perception itself is emptiness. Emptiness is also perception. Because of emptiness, volition is not empty. Apart from volition, there is no emptiness. Volition itself is emptiness. Emptiness is also volition. Because of emptiness, consciousness is not empty. Apart from consciousness, there is no emptiness. Consciousness itself is emptiness. Emptiness is also consciousness. Why is that? That is, like this. The so-called "Enlightenment" is just a name. Like this, the so-called "Bodhisattva" is just a name. Like this, the so-called "Emptiness" is just a name. Like this, the so-called "Form" is just a name. Like this, the so-called "Feeling" is just a name. Like this, the so-called "Perception" is just a name. Like this, the so-called "Volition" is just a name. Like this, the so-called "Consciousness" is just a name. That is also like this. Form is like an illusion. Feeling is like an illusion. Perception is like an illusion. Volition is like an illusion. Consciousness is like an illusion. Illusion is just a name. It is not in a direction, nor is it in a place. Seeing an illusion is not existent, not arisen. Reversed, without self-nature, without self-natureness, unborn, unceasing, without a place, without increasing, without decreasing, without complete defilement, without complete purification. Thus, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who practices in this way does not see the arising of any dharma with correct view, nor the cessation with correct

is not seen. Abiding is also not seen as it really is. Increasing is also not seen as it really is. Decreasing is also not seen as it really is. Thoroughly defiled is also not seen as it really is. Purified is also not seen as it really is. Form is also not seen as it really is. Feeling is also not seen as it really is. Perception is also not seen as it really is. Formation is also not seen as it really is. Consciousness is also not seen as it really is. That which is called enlightenment, or that which is called a Bodhisattva, that also is not seen as it really is. Why is that? It is like this: The individual names of all dharmas are like illusions. Those discriminations are not true names that arise immediately, but are expressed in terms of convention through thorough discrimination. Because of the cause of convention, there is manifest attachment. Therefore, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, all dharmas are not seen as they really are, because there is no object of focus. Because there is no seeing as it really is and there is no object of focus, there is no pride. There is also no manifest attachment. Sharadvatiputra, furthermore, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he thoroughly discerns in this way: Thus, what is called a Bodhisattva is only a name. Thus, what is called enlightenment is only a name. Thus, what is called Buddha is only a name. Thus, what is called the Perfection of Wisdom is only a name. Thus, what is called practicing the Perfection of Wisdom is only a name. Thus, what is called form is only a name. Thus, what is called feeling is only a name. Thus, what is called perception is only a name. Thus, what is called formation is only a name. Thus, what is called consciousness is only a name. Sharadvatiputra, thus, for example, the term 'I, I' is spoken in convention, but if one thoroughly examines it as it really is, there is no object of focus. The term 'sentient being, sentient being' is in convention
