A monk should sweep that empty dwelling, sweep the ground, discard the broom, and make the surface smooth with heavy objects as much as possible. Cracks, breaks, and gaps should be repaired. If those vessels are placed separately, but can still be used, they should be washed and placed. If they cannot be used, they should be discarded. If there is still something that can be used, the green grass should also be cut. If householders come to visit, they should be given Dharma talks. Even if a monk enters an empty dwelling, he should not forget to discard things. If he does not wish to stay, he should observe where he is going from. He should also observe the vicinity of the path, the toilet, the urinals, the stairs, the steps, the door, and the places of use, and then reside there. He should avoid being rushed and harmed by these things, this is called the work of an empty dwelling. What is the work of an elder in an empty dwelling? The work of a monk elder in an empty dwelling is that he should engage in such things. A monk elder in an empty dwelling should maintain a clear face, without anger, as before. He should diligently subdue, pacify, and completely pacify any quarrels, fault-finding, resentment, and disputes that arise. This is called the work of an elder in an empty dwelling. What is the work of the alms bowl? A monk should not wash the alms bowl with unfiltered ashes, nor should he wash it with rough stones, nor with soil mixed with sand, nor with heavy balls of soil mixed with sand, but with bean flour. The alms bowl should not be lifted up to wash, nor should it be dried, nor should it be put into a container, nor should it be hidden, nor should it be carried on the road, nor should it be carried in water, nor should the alms bowl be placed on uneven ground. A monk should not knock on the dwelling with the alms bowl, nor should he discard the broom, nor should he smear the surface with heavy objects, nor should he use it to fetch water for washing hands, nor for washing feet, nor for washing the face, nor for washing the body. 比丘不应将钵放置于粪便处，不应放置于小便处，不应放置于浴室，不应放置于洗脚处。总之，比丘不应将钵放置于一切不净之处。比丘手持钵时不应对佛塔顶礼。不应修补破损之处，不应放置于过于潮湿之处，不应疏忽放置于过于干燥之处，应谨慎小心地使用，直至寿命终结。比丘应如护眼般守护钵。务必使其以后无需寻找。这被称为钵的行持。何为法衣的行持？世尊开许比丘们拥有三件法衣，并非为了傲慢，并非为了增长骄慢，并非为了装饰，并非为了炫耀，而是为了比丘们能安乐修行，为了防御蚊蝇、风、热、蛇等不适之物，为了遮蔽羞耻和惭愧。比丘们应如法使用。 其中，覆肩衣也应如覆肩衣般使用。上衣也应如上衣般使用。下裙也应如下裙般使用。其中，覆肩衣不应如此使用：比丘们穿着覆肩衣时，不应在寺院中敲打，不应扫地，不应丢弃拂尘，不应用粪便涂抹光滑，不应盛满水器，不应用于粪便罐，不应用于净物罐，不应用于粪便罐，不应用于洗脚处，不应分割器物，不应管理寺院，不应用于钵的事业，不应用于法衣的事业，不应洗浴。脱下覆肩衣后，无论是草、木、粪便还是泥土，都不应放置于其上。脱下覆肩衣后，不应进入粪便处，不应进入小便处，不应进入浴室，不应进入洗脚处。总之，脱下覆肩衣后，不应前往一切不净之处。不应用于覆盖下身，不应用于铺垫。

A monk should not place the alms bowl in a place of excrement, not in a place of urine, not in a bathroom, not in a place for washing feet. In short, a monk should not place the alms bowl in any unclean place. A monk should not prostrate to a stupa while holding the alms bowl. One should not mend broken places, should not place it in a place that is too damp, and should not neglect to place it in a place that is too dry. One should use it carefully and mindfully, and should carry it until the end of one's life. A monk should protect the alms bowl as if it were his eye. One should make sure that it will not need to be searched for in the future. This is called the conduct of the alms bowl. What is the conduct of the Dharma robe? The Blessed One allowed the monks to have three Dharma robes, not for the sake of arrogance, not for the sake of increasing pride, not for the sake of adornment, not for the sake of display, but so that the monks could practice in comfort, to defend against uncomfortable things such as mosquitoes, flies, wind, heat, and snakes, and to cover shame and embarrassment. The monks should use them properly. Among them, the upper robe should also be used as an upper robe. The upper garment should also be used as an upper garment. The lower skirt should also be used as a lower skirt. Among them, the upper robe should not be used in these ways: When monks are wearing the upper robe, they should not knock in the temple, should not sweep the floor, should not discard the duster, should not smear it smoothly with dung, should not fill water vessels, should not use it for dung pots, should not use it for clean pots, should not use it for dung pots, should not use it for washing feet, should not divide utensils, should not manage the temple, should not use it for the work of the alms bowl, should not use it for the work of the Dharma robe, and should not bathe.
