O you virtuous ones, please speak to me. O you virtuous ones, please instruct me, and I will do it again according to the Dharma. Thus, speak two or three times. Let him also say, "It is appropriate." The second time, let him say, "Good." If he can do so, it is good; if he cannot, let him sit and request. If he cannot even sit, let him lie down and request. If he cannot even lie down, even if he says in a small voice, "I offer a share of the seat," it is considered to have offered a share of the seat. If he says, "For my sake, please say a share of the seat," it is also considered to have offered a share of the seat. If no one can offer a share of the seat, even if he offers it with a bodily gesture, it is called offering a share of the seat. If he cannot even do it with his body, even if he offers it with a mere verbal expression, it is called a share of the seat. If he cannot even do it with a bodily gesture, and he cannot do it with words, then let all the Sangha go there. And bring that Bhikshu back here. If all the Sangha does not go there, and that Bhikshu is not brought back there, then the Sangha, because it has not assembled to act, will be considered to have committed a transgression. If the Bhikshu who is receiving the share of the seat dies after receiving the share of the seat, it is called not having offered the share of the seat, and a share of the seat should be offered to another. If he himself admits to being a layman, it is also called not having offered a share of the seat, and a share of the seat should be offered to another. If he himself admits to being a Shramana, or a hermaphrodite, or one who has expelled a Bhikshuni, or one who has killed his father, or one who has killed his mother, or one who has killed an Arhat, or one who has caused dissension in the Sangha, or one who has drawn blood from the body of the Tathagata with malicious intent, or a heretic, or one who has become a heretic, or a thief, or one who has previously broken his vows, or one who has previously committed a crime, or one who dwells in another realm, it is also considered not to have offered a share of the seat, and a share of the seat should be offered to another. If he himself admits that it is not food, it is also called not having a share of the seat. If he himself admits to being one who has caused dissension in the Sangha, or one who does not reside, or one who resides separately, or one who is close, or one who has given precepts, it is also called not having offered a share of the seat. This is called the perfection of offering a share of the seat. The one receiving the share of the seat

What is well done? If a bhikshu takes a boundary from the sangha, then he should take it like this. One with one, or one with two, or one with many is also acceptable. As many names as can be spoken, that many should be taken. A bhikshu taking a boundary, after taking the boundary, should not run. He should not jump. He should not leap. He should not walk from under the ground. He should not walk from the sky. He should not take a boundary outside the boundary. He should take a boundary with mindfulness from within the boundary. If he takes it from outside the boundary, it becomes an act of wrongdoing. If he takes it from within the boundary, but there is an obvious presence of something that causes fear due to obstructing livelihood, or obstructing pure conduct, or any of the eight obstructions, then even if he comes from outside the boundary, there is no fault.
