These are the clean room and bedding, and human utensils. What are human utensils? The Blessed One said: Whether for the Sangha or for a stupa, these are called human utensils. What are non-human utensils? Yaks, goats, sheep, and buffaloes, etc., these also, whether for the Sangha or for a stupa, the Blessed One has permitted. These are called non-human utensils. What are completely possessed utensils? Whether it is a village or a forest, whether it is a woman or a man, or a hermaphrodite, or a eunuch, or a bisexual person, etc., that which is possessed by others is called a completely possessed utensil. What are not completely possessed utensils? A village or a forest, a woman or a man, or a hermaphrodite, or a eunuch, or a bisexual person, that which is not completely possessed by anyone is called a not completely possessed utensil. What are the utensils that should be given and received? Whatever the monks give and receive from others and eat, what is that? Except for water and toothpicks, all other food items are utensils that should be given and received, these are called utensils that should be given and received. What are the utensils that should not be given and received? Whatever the monks can eat even if not given by others, what is that? That which is eaten by worms, clothes that come again, and that which is rotten, this is called discarded clothes. What is the act of pouring through the nose? Regarding the act of pouring through the nose, the Blessed One granted it to the monks who were suffering from eye diseases. Just as it was granted to the venerable Pilindavatsa's son, as it is extensively described in the Vinaya. That is called the act of pouring through the nose. What is the act of pouring through the anus? Monks should not perform the act of pouring through the anus until there is another means of action. If they do, they will commit a grave offense. If there is no other means of action, then it should be done. This is called the act of pouring through the anus. What is the act of piercing with a needle? Monks should not perform the act of piercing the face with a needle when there is another means of action. If they do, they will commit a misdeed. If there is no other means of action, then it should be done. This is called the act of piercing with a needle. What is the act of cutting? Monks should not cut the hair of other limbs except for the hair and beard. If they cut it, they will commit a misdeed. This is called the act of cutting. What is the act of cutting hair? Monks should not cut hair haphazardly, but should cut hair in one direction and cut it in order of seniority. Or, even if it is cut with a sharp razor, it should not be raised again. If it is raised again, they will commit a misdeed. This is called the act of cutting hair. What is it to eat after having made it on purpose? The five kinds of seeds should be made suitable with five suitable measures and then eaten. The eight drinks should be mixed with water. The ten clothes should be made unpleasant in color with three ways of making the color unpleasant and then worn. In this way, it is to be worn after having made it on purpose. What is eating fruit? In the vast city, many fruits were eaten by the monks as personal possessions. The Blessed One said: Do not eat them as personal possessions, but distribute them to the Sangha. The Blessed One said: Distribute them to the Sangha. Then, one, two, or three people take them, some do not get them, and some are left over.
